I know it hurts when it comes out, but is it rough feeling, soft and smooth, or kind of like a balloon? Is it fabric, rubber, or something else? I've always wanted to know. Thanks.

I don't mean what it feels like to be hit by one, I mean what does the fabric on it feel like?

The ones in my wife's Buick were deployed when I hit a telephone pole that jumped in front of me; it didn't hurt, but it scared the crud out of me. The bags were sort of soft (almost like nylon), and had a talcum-powder like substance that flew all over us. The best thing about airbags is that they were there; neither of us was injured, but the Buick was totalled (probably because it would cost over two thousnd dollars just to replace the bags!)

its feels like nothing.
i have been in two major crashes were the airbag was deployed. both times i felt not a thing. it did not hurt or felt soft. the whole thing happens in micro seconds so you don't even see the air bag deployed. the only thing u will see after the crash is the air bag hanging down your steering wheel without any air in it. and u will feel absolutely nothing. both times i had my seat belt on. if you were to hit that air bag without a seat belt...then u would probably die and still feel nothing.

I know they can save lives but if they open while you have something in your hands like a pair of glasses it can be pretty dangerous. I think I would be pretty scared too if they open but the injuries ( if any do occur) from it would be less than the actual inpact of the car itself. Talcum powder or corn starch is used to line the inside of the air bag and is released from the air bag as it is opened. This thought is scary enough for me too too as I would probably suffocate from allergic reaction to fine dust likeness of both.

the airbags don't really hurt that bad. I just felt like I had been punched in the chest. The worst part about airbags is the white power that comes out of them. That **** stinks!!! still can't get that smell out.

In layman's words it felt like being punched interior the face, yet rather that grew to become into no longer something in comparison to what i grew to become into waiting for because of the fact I observed the accident coming. additionally we concept the automobile grew to become into filling with smoke because of the powder burning our throats and making us cough and making it so we could no longer see. It grew to become into our first time having airbags set up.

like a punch from mike tyson. before he bit people to win. gave me one hell of a bloody nose, and the powder creates slight breathing problems in the car. although, i am short (just barely over 5' tall), so in reality it probably won't hurt anyone over 5'5"

The powder inside burnt my face. Not bad but it left a red rash. It was a heck of alot better then not having one though. :)
