Oh, you're talking about Islam. Well, it is much easier to get people to follow you if you are preaching hating someone that if you are preaching loving someone. Basic human nature.

Because they are PEOPLE and people bow to their most basic instincts, then make excuses for why they do things. I know of many Muslims who would never consider killing anyone. On the contrary, they are peace loving and respect others. People who kill doctors who have performed abortions are just as wrong. Not that I approve of abortions but killing is killing. Christians did their share during the dark ages in Europe also...all in the name of their religion. By the way, I am a Christian...one who believes that we are love our brothers and sisters regardless of whether they agree with us or not.

People use religion as an excuse to justify their crimes. The religion itself isn't at fault.

Atheists have killed 100 million people in the name of communism. Religious fanatics aren't the only ones who kill people.

And polytheistic religions have killed people too. Read The Genocide of Hindu Women by Sita Arwal. And the numerous killings by Pagans in the past (human sacrifices of Aztecs, Ba'al cults, the Lindow man, the wicker men, the gladiator games of the colleseum, the Christians thrown to Lions, burned alive to light Nero's dinner parties, etc., etc., )

And last time I checked Catholics were Christians.

Oh, and I haven't killed anybody today.

Most religions don't kill in the name of religion.

Even in instances of human sacrifice, it was more for God than to convert anyone to their religion.
Even in Rome, it wasn't about converting Christians, it was about the Christians breaking the law.

It's just a pity the ones that do are at the top of the list.

Mass killings are always motivated by political ambition.

Much political ambition is from power corrupted politicians who want power over others, or to take over someone else's real estate and resources.

If the religion promotes killings, then it is the devil that is working in the name of the religion, to do its work, under the guise of the religion, and taking the faithful for a ride.

Because they are trying to justify their actions and trying to secure their place in the after life. While doing something they know is wrong. I know it's hard to belive...But there are alot of people who are brain washed into thinking that they won't go to heaven unless they stand up and do something now. And in standing up they are lead to belive that they should kill what ever and who ever stands in their way...including inocent bystanders. So you know it's never right to kill people and say it was in the name of Allah, God, or any religion. I hope that this helped you. God Bless!

The Prophet Mohammad actually came up with the idea of a Jihad or "Holy War" then the Christians took it from there with the Crusades.
