Usually the external hard drives come with casing which has power supply cord and output cable that can be connected to the computer via USB port. Just plug in the power cord and put the USB cable into your notebook or desktop. Your computer will automatically recognize the hard drive and show it as another (internal) hard drive of your computer. It is so simple.

Install the driver before you connect the external HD. Hopefully your device came with an install CD.

If not, you may have to download.

If your PC is new, it may have the driver on the HD.

After you install it, plug it in to the power supply and connect it to the USB port. Your PC will say "new hardware detected." It will search for the driver and install.

After that, use it as you would an old floppy.

TAKE THE USB PORT OF UR EXTERNAL DRIVE:
1.CONNECT IT ONTO UR COMPUTER USB DRIVE
2.U WILL HAVE IT ADDED ON TO UR COMPUTER'S DRIVES NEXT TO LOCAL DRIVES AND NOT IN REMOVABLE DRIVES
