my fiance' and i were good friends before we started dating... actually, i didn't even realize i liked him until his best friend tried hooking him up with my best friend, and i got jealous.. oO..
spend some time with her alone. watch a movie at her/your house or something.. in the middle of the movie, try putting your hand on her hand, arm, knee.. something, but don't push too far just yet. see how she reacts to that.. that'll let you know if you have a chance. if she lets you keep it there, then try taking it a little further?

I think being friends before taking the relationship further, is making the relationship stronger, in the long run.
You get to know the person you're with, on all levels, and you have an understanding of who they really are.
I think if you continue your path to staying friends with your 'best friend', things will fall into place, and who knows, maybe it might not be what you both want, in the end.
Everything happens for a reason, and if things don't happen the way you want them to, right away, then maybe it's a sign that you both need more time to get to know one another.
The strength of a relationship is based on how well you both get along, and how you know one another, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and how well you both communicate.
If you've already told her how you feel, then there's not much else you can do, other than put the ball back in her court, and let it play out the way it was meant to be.
Don't force the situation, though, or you'll be jeopardizing the relationship, altogether.
Be patient, and as long as she knows how you feel about her, then she'll consider that option you want, in the future.
Maybe buy her some flowers, or get her a sentimental card, or do something that would really express how you feel, other than using words (as you've already done, by sharing your feelings wit her). When she sees that you're going out of your way to do things for her to get her attention, she may very well think that you're very serious, and in time, she'll return the favor, and start looking at bringing the relationship to another level.

Allow this to play out to see what happens. The reason is if she doesn't reciprocate your feelings, then the friendship is not compromised. You may not have a romantic relationship but you'll still have a best friend.
If the feeling is mutual, then you just happened on a treasure trove. Relationships that start off with friendship other than pure physical attraction tend to endure the tests of time and circumstances. There is a stronger basis for the relationship, a better knowledge of one another, and other interests involved apart from physical attraction (which will be among the first to wane anyway).

friends before a relationship is always good lol. u can't be in a relationship without knowing someone.. well it's possible but that's stupid. a strong friendship is always a great foundation for a relationship but sometimes..it's hard because u don't want to lose that friendship. if she really likes u she'll date u. but if it's not enough then she probably just doesn't want to lose u as a friend. it's usually always a hard decision to move from best friends to more then just best friends. u never want to lose a person or make things awkward u know? don't let her know anything, let her make the decision. i wish u the best of luck =]

your story reminds about my situation a lot. I start to be friend with a lovely girl and our friendship last for 3 years. Once time, I realized that I have been in love with her. However, everything was to late. Like what you said: a strong friendship can lead to a fantastic relationship. But have you ever thougth that does your friend get the same idea? Ask her right away if you do not want to lose your friendship and relationship as well.

It's a great start to a relationship...and that's exactly how my future wife and I started. Just don't push anything, otherwise it will almost certainly fall apart and ruin your friendship.

I believe that a relationship will fall in place naturally, when love takes over, your heart will tell you what to do.

i think that it would be a really good foundation for the relationship, but if you break up, there's a good chance that you'll lose your friend.
