This is not a question about freedom of speech. I am not asking whether they should be punished for saying this, but I am asking if they are right to say this.

No. I myself am christian, and I think that the only people that we can call a violent religion are the extremists. There are extremists everywhere, in every thing. If you want to kill some one simply because they don't hold your same beliefe system, wouldn't you call that violent?

Jews, Christians, and Muslims have been violent in direction of one yet another as long as they have all been co-habitating. it is not any longer clever to show hands at in trouble-free terms one among those communities. i used to be Muslim, so i comprehend first hand that Islam, mutually as that's inspired via peace, does not constantly sell peace. There are too many verses interior the Qur'an that talk of disrespect for Jews and Christians. to declare that Islam has appreciate for the different 2 is a regularly occurring assertion that may not be in a position to be discerned in all circumstances. Violence is present day in lots of communities, religious or no longer, and that contains Islam. i comprehend that the dozen or so Muslims that are in charge for 9/11 do no longer talk for all Muslims, yet in that they account for the main great act of terrorism on American soil in background, you're patently incorrect to declare that Islam is all approximately peace....and those adult men did that interior the call of Islam. even with the violence in background, whether, i think that lots of the folk in all of those communities are non violent and basically p.c. to stay a content fabric existence. I truthfully have considered that for the time of Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike, plus all others.

Look at the violent things that radical christians did in the past, the bloody crusades were started by christians. it would be completely unfair for us to say it was a violent religion when islam teaches so much peace.

Well, in America, we have this thing called freedom of speech, so...

I wouldn't know about followers of "Christianity." I am a follower of Christ, not of Christianity. Following Christ does not lead to violence. Historically, there have been people who called themselves "Christians" and who were violent people... however, even Jesus, himself, said you would know people by their actions, just as you know a tree by its fruits... so people who are violent killers are quite obviously, by their actions, NOT Christ followers...

So, back to your question... I am a follower of Christ who lives in America, so yeah. I have a right to call Islam a violent religion.

Of course they don't, that kind of behavior is what provokes Muslims, being judgmental without understanding a single thing about the religion and making rude jokes about them, their habits, their beliefs is simply not right!

To VQ: Muslims can't return the favor because they are bound by their religion to espect other religions and prophets, that's why you'll never hear a Moses or Jesus joke from a Muslim!

We have the right to criticize any religion, belief system, whatever.Same goes for other people. They are allowed to criticize Christianity.
You take away that right, and we'll end up like the countries in the middle east where no one is able to speak out.Guess what religion most of those countries follow?
Islam.
As for the Crusades, yes, they were horrible. But after four centuries of oppression by Islamists, and their stealing of land, the first one was needed. It was only in response to Islamists attacking them.

NO!!

You telling me Christians such as Stalin, Hitler, Timothy McVeigh (who bombed Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City), Pope Urban II (who initiated the first crusade slaughtering thousands of innocent people)....and the list goes on.....these people are good people?

A total of more than 52 million people died in Europe alone during World War 2...... Muslims did it???? Or the *******?

These people have killed more innocent people than 100 Osamas together!! But I'm not saying Osama is a good person. Just telling you not to judge any religion based on its people and get your facts right!

Absolutely not.

Christianity's history is much more violent and bloody than Islams. In the Crusades, it was only AFTER the Muslims found out that the Christians were slaughtering prisoners that they began to follow suit.

Not to mention the world wide negative effects that Christianity has had.

No. It is not the right of a Christian to judge an entire people because of what a few choose to do in the name of their god. Christians in the dark ages were just as guilty of perverse killings and mass murders.
