My husband and I are in charge of putting together the gifts for the mother's in our church.

In previous years it was a rolling pin with a poem, homemade soaps, etc...

But what do we get about 50 or so women for under $5-7.00 each?

Also if you have any ideas on what to do as far as for a program too.

In past times we have done poems, a slide show, and had the kids get up and tell funnies....

Hoping other brains out there can help us out.

Also if you have any ideas for our Pasotor's wife and the minister's wives for gifts that would be helpful too.

Personally, I would just go to a craft store ( I love Archivers!!!) And make them all handmade cards. You can get the sunday school kids to help!

Or, You could recruit the dads to find a funny and or embrassing pic (sans nudity, of course!!!) and attach it to a gerber daisy or some sort of flower (other than carnations!!)

Or, during the Sevice, you can get the sunday school kids color the parking lot with "I love you mommy!" with colored chaulk and a flower on their car!!

Oh, btw! I <3 dr. laura to!!! We should talk ;)

In our area there are many "Dollar Stores" where mostly everything is a dollar, well I would suggest a small mirror (to view the one who is loved), which would be surround by those silk roses, (red for love) or babies breath (purity) with a Hersey's kiss or some other type of sweet and an appropriate Psalm in a netting attached to the mirror as well for viewing. You know something in this range, not expensive at all.

One church I attended handed out a long-stem rose to every mother on her way out the door.

Another one called for people to donate their time to a pro-life clinic to say "thanks" to those who gave birth to children under difficult circumstances.

What would make mothers more happy than a slide show of pictures of their children on the "big screen"? Get the dads to scan pictures and e-mail them to you as a suprise for the mothers.

Whatever else you do, always have the mothers stand, so the rest of the congregation can applaud them.

Scented candles decorate them with a little bow with small flowers on it, or you can buy a ring of artificial flowers that go on the bottom of the candles they don't cost much and look very good.
