Almost every person I talk to that is opposed to the Iraq war starts his or her rant with, "I fully supported the invasion of Afghanistan.............."

Now consider, what if Afghanistan had become the center of our war on terror as Iraq has and we were still bogged down after over 3000 casualties - how many of these people would have the resolve to still be supportive? Not many, I bet.

I truly think there are people who are just too idealistic and unrealistic when it comes time to pay the piper - this war on terror (and, yes, it is a war on terror) was clearly presented as a war that we must win - a war that will not be won over night and the costs and sacrifices will be high - with this clearly stated, the invasion was approved by both houses of Congress with little opposition.

Where are those same people now that it's time to either put up or shut up? I'll tell you where they are, they have all flipped flopped and lost their resolve to see this war through.

We can either try and squash this demented ideology now - or we can face a better organized and more formidable alQaeda in the future. The choice is ours.
