I think they're intimidated by you above all else. Just go ahead and be yourself, doing the things that you enjoy doing. It's their loss, Miss Devin Michael!

You're not "weird". You're just what some people would traditionally call a "Tomboy". There's nothing wrong with being a Tomboy. The only people who do have a problem with it are those who are insistant about what people "should" be doing according to them. Don't waste your time trying to get their worthless approval. Just do the things you like and hang out with the people who you find worth spending time with. Be proud of those hobbies you have that show results (and finishing an arcwielding project is much more impressive than saying "I spent this week getting to a million points on this video game"). When it comes to friendships, I've always prefered quality over quantity anyway.

They use one word to describe girls like you: TOMBOY. I used to be one, an no you are not wierd, girls who play sports and do things like welding and dirtbiking are just a part of who who are, it doesnt make you wierd or odd, and the word tomboy, is really stretching it these days, women are MORE independent and there are NO set boundaries as to what a girl IS anymore, not all girls are "sugar and spice", some of us girls like to get dirty and be ourselves we like our "slips and snails and puppy dog tails" which is what boys USED to be "made of" and if anyone says different then screw them, youll come to realize that grade school and high school are the times of stupid adolecent people who think the world revolves around them, and theyll be singing a different tune when you go back for your high school reunion being the first chick pro-football player and theyre still stuck working at the local piggly wiggly. So hun keep up the "wierdness" and pay attention to your studies and leave the stupid people eating your dust!!!

Devon,

I really like your name! Don't worry about what other kids think. You just have to do what makes YOU happy. I grew up in the country and I guess it was ok for all the girls to ride dirtbikes and stuff. We all did it. It wasn't until I moved to a bigger town that people thought it was weird. Let's face it, you can't play paintball and ride fourwheelers in a skirt! Do what you like, and wear what makes you happy. Nobody else has to live your life but you, so who cares what they think? My son read this and he thinks your COOL. He is 14 and he hates girls being girly. He likes the ones that will play paintball with him and ride four-wheelers. Of course, he grew up with his mom riding a motorcycle and four-wheelers, so he's used to us girls being a little "boyish". I still like to put a dress on now and then and get all prettied up and fix my hair. Most of the time it's a pony tail and blue jeans. Hey...I am comfortable! Girls like you grow up to be girls like me. I can hang drywall, paint, landscape, and I can even put on a roof! My husband and I have 4 rental properties and I help work on all of them. My husband likes that I'm not afraid to get dirty! YOU GO GIRL!

1. Are you joking about your name?
2. It's cool for a girl to be a jock, but I personally don't think there's anything to be gained by looking and dressing like one. Jr high and h.s. is when girls learn how to wear makeup, fix their hair, dress up, etc. If you wake up one day, 35 years old, and you still don't know how to use hot curlers, then.......

being different is fine. it doesnt matter what people say, in a way it makes you a better person. just be yourself, not who other people want you to be. changing for them is not worth it if you lose yourself. so pay no attention to them, they are just probalby jealous that you can do all of that stuff and still be a normal girl. you are unique, one of a kind, nothing or no one should ever cause you to change just because they think you're different. forget them.

Just ignore what other people say about you. We are all different and we all like different things. You happen to like activities that boys like to do. The people telling you that you are weird are probably those kids that wear Abercrombie/Hollister and think they are better than everyone else. Like I said, just ignore them and know that you are better than that!

I personally think you sound cool, and it would be fun to hang out with a girl like you!
