Tetanus status?!
Any hand wound has a good potential for infection. Circulation is good, and can quickly carry bacteria to tendons, specially if it's in the 'web space' (between thumb and forefinger). Doc may want to give you antibiotics.

If the knife stays in then leave it in and wrap with a towel. Go to the ER ASAP.
If the knife comes out then wrap the hand in a towel and then go to the ER ASAP. Don't take the knife with you in that case. If you can not make it to the hospital on your own then dial 911.
