It doesnt appear to have much affect or maybe it should be 100 below zero instead of 20 below. Why arent winters dramatically affected like summertime?

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

Well, lets take a look at the situation. Over the past 5 years there has been a drop of temp. by.037 degrees C. I wouldn't exactly say that is global warming. the thermometer was invented in the 1800's, so no one really knows about the temperature before that.
Global warming being caused by man is a farce. The Earth has had warming and cooling cycles long nefore man ever became industrialized. There are a lot of idiots that but into all of this global warming trash. Don't get me wrong though. Man does pollute the Earth and it is terrible, but there is nothing we can do to stop the Earth from having its cycles of warming and cooling. Thte Earth just had a mini isce age only a thousand years ago and a major ice age about 12,000 years ago. During the major ice age the state of Kentucky was covered by a glacier and now it isn't. Before the mini ice age Greenland was nice and green, which is how it got named Greenland. The people that are trying to get people all worked up about global warming don't like to talk about these facts. They want everyone to be scared. Why? Because they are idiots and the different groups have their agendas. Some do it because that is how they get their Fed. grants. There is also a group that actually hates mankind and wants to see mankind reduced to 300 million in population world wide. There is another group of scientists that declared last week that we are in a global cooling cycle. These nut jobs can't agree on anything. lol
Well, that is about it. in an abreviated way.
Ok, those of you on the far left go ahead and give me a thumbs down now. The denial thing shows just how wacko the far left is. I get a thumbs down even though what I say is the truth. But I ask, why the thumbs down? Because you don't like the truth?

First Global warming is a long term thing that we don't have answers for. second global warming is caused by Sun spots, last year the sun exploded with the most power we have ever seen. It would take all the nuke devices on earth a million times over to release that much energy, and the sun is 98 million miles away it takes time to get here and it takes time to effect the earth. Greenland had plants a 1000 years ago but is covered in ice now. So Man was not around at that time to damage ozone layer at that time, we really don't know, most is just theory, but if you want to believe in global warming talk to an environmentalist they have all the answers, including this one, but you can take a guess and would be as close as they are.

Actually it's the opposite, winters are getting considerably warmer. This is a complex process and will vary by your location. Thinking about this year, yes it's cold and snowy, but why is it so snowy in the US? because it wasn't cold enough for the lakes to freeze earlier and there was more moisture in the air. With glaciers melting (Glacier National Park...may soon have none) and ice sheets falling into the sea, arctic ecosystems are going to be hit harder. Other places will not necessarily feel warmer..but the energy will be evaporating more water making it rainier, or drier. The consequences will be different in different places and even experts haven't decided exactly what they will be.

Weather varies a whole lot from year to year. Global warming just says on average, over the whole Earth, the weather will get warmer. But some places may get colder.

Actually the big snows in NY may have been affected by global warming. They were "lake effect" snows where Arctic air makes snow out of warm moist air over lakes. If the lakes were warmer, there would be more moisture to make snow from.

Yes and since the Northern and Southern hemispheres weather systems do not mix significantly, and the bulk of the fuel usage is in the Northern Hemisphere, why is the South Pole ice melting also? There may be global warming but it is not from mankind's doing. I think the Sun's effect is more important.

They are being affected. The global warming name can be mis-interpreted. Most people think that mean it should get really hot, but that's not entirely true. Some areas get hot, but mostly it means that the weather all over the globe become more erratic. For instance, stronger and more violent storms (check out the Midwest/East coast about now). It will affect different regions in different ways. There may be tornadoes in areas that didn't have them before. Perhaps there maybe more tsunamis and hurricanes than usual. Things like that.

Global warming is a theory. Meteorological history hasn't been studied or tracked for long enough to accurately and positively say that the environment is getting warmer because of our actions. Considering how old Earth is, the short time that our weather has been recorded is no where near sufficient to make any claims about Global Warming.

My biggest question/concern over global warming is that geologic time is so slow and we have weather data for only one hundred years or so. How do we make accurate predictions/deductions from this thin base? How long did the last ice age last? I do not know but I bet much longer than one hundred years. The earth seems to have various cycles so is it possible this is one more example
