At least 6 weeks old. However I would go 4 something like fontline instead. A collar only takes care of the area around the neck. Where as a product like frontline takes care of the whole body.

Flea collars are crap - they don't work. And there are more dangerous that some of the spot-on products available.
Call your vet - if the doctor has seen your pup in the last couple of months, and has a current weight on him, then they can prescribe something like frontline, advantage, revolution, or capstar for flea treatment.

Flea collars are ineffective and are essentially poison necklaces. Many reports of dogs have severe reactions, including death, to things like Hartz flea collars are out there. Use a more well tolerated product like Frontline or Advantage. Much more effective and generally seem to be safer. Some holistic treatments, like adding garlic to your dog's food, might also work.

I would not recommend using a flea collar. I would use something like Advantix or Frontline. But if you absolutely want to use a flea collar, read the box. They tell you when you can start using them on puppies. I think its 6 weeks.

There are a lot of products out there, the best thing to do is read the package as most of them have simple instructions and age requirments printed on them. If you don't safe in using something you can pick up at the local store visit a local vet. They all stock such things.

forget about flea collors, they are no protection, up to six month
the best is to bath your dog as often as you possible can, do
not blow dry on warm, that is not good for their skin since dogs
do not have oil glands, towel dry him & keep him in a warm place
your vet can advise you on flea protrection products from the age
of six mths. but you can get fleas off him by bathing alot, that is
what i had done 'til my pit was old enough to be on advantage
call your vet if you feel uncomfortable with my advise, but don't
waist your money on flea collars ever, they realy do not work
the best wishes to you & your pup.....

Flea collars don't work. Get the stuff from the vet that goes between the shoulderblades like Frontline or Advantage.

I wouldn't use one till hes at lleast 6 months old but, thats just my opinion.
You can give him "Brewers Yeast w/garlic" Pills from you local pet store. The dose goes by weight. It will make your puppy's skin & blood taste funny to fleas and they hate the taste of the garlic! I have 5 dogs of my own and 13 fosters and have NEVER had a flea problem! It works for me!!

I'm not a vet, but I have owned dogs my whole life.... and I don't like flea collars on any age dog.....
If you bathe your doggie regular, you can mix Tea Tree oil in with his shampoo, and it will repel fleas, ticks, lice, etc....... just a few drops into a bottle of shampoo does the trick, and this also works in childrens shampoo to protect them from headlice!

as a rule of thumb no younger than six months. go to your vet and get advantage for him and only put a single drop between his shoulder blades. we have a small dog (5 lbs) that the vet told us to do this with. it's the same procedure for kittens and puppies under six months.
