I am a working mom, very busy...but I love to draw. I love tattoos and have several myself, from small to medium. I plan on getting many more. I have even drawn one for myself.
I have been interested in becoming a tattoo artist for a while..Any suggestions? Places to look? Or what would be the best way to practice?

You wont be paid off the bat, it takes months or even years before you can start tattooing for money unfortunately, so you may have to keep your dayjob and play mom aswell!! It is an art you are learning, not simply sticking pretty pictures on people with sharpie. We make this job look very easy but it takes a lot of hard work.

go round some of your local shops and see what they think of your art work. Make sure you draw your *** off. Perhaps take a few graphic design and drawing classes. also see the sticky thread under apprenticeships in http://www.everytattoo.com tattoo forum. Do not try and go it alone. NEVER START OUT AS A SCRATCHER.Dont buy machines or anything else because you will have no idea what you are looking for. IF they wont take you ask why, ask for advice how to get to that point.

OH and BS to what evryone will tell you about abusing apprentices. you might have to clean tubes and stuff but that can be a good learning experience. If u want it that bad ull go through it and if a studio respects u enough they wont do it.

Go into a few shops and see if anyone will give you an apprenticeship. Take some of your work to show so they see you're serious. Be prepared to do a lot of grunt work for a long time before you actually start tattooing.

My husband is getting into this now, best thing to do is get to know an artist, make friends with one, buy equipment on your own to show your serious and start tattooing meats and grapefruits to get the hang of it and then start tattooing your thighs so you can get the hang of the machine and what it actually feels like to tattoo human flesh. After this tell your tattooer friend and see if he will let you sit in the shop for a little bit and watch and learn and then you grow from there.

Start a portfolio of what you can do. Putting your ideas on paper and then going into several shops and networking while showing off your talent. I think this is a good path to start down...

Good Luck!

you could try and get an apprenticeship, but since you've got kids i don't know that that'd go well, because they normally don't pay you, and if they do, it's very very little. and that even could take years. so i dunno. also, there are tattoo schools you jsut have to look around. but yeah, it would be difficult with children, but i guess nothing is impossible.
