prepare yourself for the illogical
(most popular examples of "proof" of God on Yahoo Q/A):
1)The world is beautiful, just look around you!
2)God speaks to me and answers my prayers
3)You are here aren't you
4)Just read the Bible
5)Without God, we would have no morals
6)God answered my prayers...again
7)(and my favorite), Evolution is a lie!!!! (which has NOTHING to do with what you are asking)
(All of which are NOT PROOF in any sort of a logical argument..but that is all you are going to get)

Who Created the Universe?
Who created the universe and all the wonders that are in it, including life? We are always so quick at answering God, who else! Since everything has a cause, the universe must also have cause, simple. Unfortunately, that is not a fact, it’s just a belief. The evidence of the senses shows loud and clear that not everything has a cause. Something has no cause. Something is the cause of everything else, and that thing is not God, but the universe itself. Matter and energy are the indestructible elements that constitute the universe. The universe changes, expands, contracts but it does not vanish. It is the cause of everything in it, including life. The universe, in its basic elements of matter and energy has always existed.
The idea of the existence of a Guardian of the Universe is the mystical idea that nature has a creator and that the creator is an intelligent consciousness capable of seeing and tracking everything that happens in the universe. He can decide simultaneously whether a galaxy should be formed in this part or in that part of the cosmos while making sure that the birth and death of each of the six billion people on earth is carefully recorded along with everyone’s possible action, tiny or enormous, good or bad, that each person did in the past, is doing at this very moment, and will do in the future! To believe in the existence of such a conscious super-intelligent being able to do all that work without ever resting a second, requires an incredible imagination and the absolute absence of logical thinking. Since it is legitimate to ask where the universe came from, isn’t it equally legitimate to ask where such powerful concentration of conscious super-intelligence came from?
To say that God is the cause that has no cause is the same as saying that matter and energy are the causes that have no causes. Which is more logical? Scientists don't know all the properties of the universe and we are still learning about the properties of matter and energy. We have no evidence that a superintelligent being created them. Our limited knowledge, however, does not give us the license to invent that there was such a thing as a "creation." It's more probable that matter and energy existed as they exist today by virtue of their own nature, rather than believe that an intelligent being without a birth exists on his own and even lived before energy and matter existed, in a place called nothingness!

I was about 6 or 7 years old when I asked my father the same question. His answer was: YOU!. When I asked him how, he explained to me the law of CAUSE and EFFECT, the MADE and the MAKER. It is a long chain; there is a MADE, then there must be a MAKER.
A few years later, I asked my father who then created GOD. He told me, here is where the chain and the cause and effect stop as beyond this is what our brains can not fathom.
As a matter of fact neither atheist can prove that God does not exist, nor can theist prove to the contrary. I have heard, read and studied those arguments again and over again, and neither party convinced me either way. Therefore I do attack neither.
To believe or not is not important. What is important is your action. I, myself, believe that God exists and I do not have to prove or argue about it with anybody, because God's existence is a logical necessity to my mind.
It is said, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Does it matter then whether you are a theist or an atheist. LET US BE FRIENDS.

This is a question that countless people pose everyday. Yes using sources a person doesn't believe in can't be used to prove an argument to that person, but that doesn't automatically discount the source. Since in almost every society around the world, throughout the history of man, some supreme being has been acknowledged and the fact that majority of people today believe in a higher being, the burden of proving the existence of God doesn't fall on us, but rather on the atheists proving that a God doesn't exist. So you have to prove that the things going on around you can be fully explained by sources other than a higher being.
Good Luck!

Can an Atheist give solid proof for their belief (or lack of?) Don't quote the Bible? Since there is no book of Atheism, so don't quote Darwin and such theories either. I believe in creation and not evolution, as such, I see God, His power, knowledge, and care in the world, the Earth and in all of nature, life itself, and in all things. Just look around. How and why did all these things come about? Look at all the differences, colors, vast uses. did that just happen somehow? No. I see the hand of God in all these things. Jesus died for our sins, offers us forgiveness, and eternal life in Heaven. This is recorded in the Bible AND Jesus, His death, etc. And, if you don't want to accept the Bible, this is also recorded in mid east history. Evolution is a THEORY, (guess work).. God and the Bible are NOT theory. Darwin is dead, Jesus is alive. If you feel the miracles of the Bible can't be proven, Ill ask,"can you DIS-prove them? You don't want quotes or references form the Bible but you refer to it when you write about the miracles written in it. Is that fair? Jesus is recorded as dieing in history and in the Bible but..His grave is empty and many people saw Him alive after He was crucified. Many people saw Him arise to Heaven as well. PS- One last comment. Nazi's , satan-ist, and communists do not believe in God either. Is it comforting to know that you have something in common with them? That's enough for now.... ..

I cant stand it when Christians come around a "non-believer" and tell them that they "live in darkness" or "they are going to hell". I am a Christian, and will always believe in God. but in know way are you wrong in questioning his existence.
There are modern day miracles. I just seen a clip on youtube.com of a sky diver that fell 15,000 feet and his shoot didn't open and the reserve barely opened just enough to spin him violently in circles. and as he neared the earth he waived good buy to his camera, and then bam he fell into black berry bushes. a while later the second jumper hit the same bushes right next to him and asked him if he was ok. the man answered! holly crap he was alive!
ha-ha.
please don't listen to the Christians that come on here and tell you you are wrong for the questioning. because those same "Christians" tell me that im a sinner and that I am going to hell because I don't attend church or because I had a baby out of wedlock. they have know idea what they are talking about and obviously haven't read the Bible that they come on here quoting enough to know that God will love me whether im a sinner or a freaking saint!
I hope this helped in any way. Good luck on your search, I hope you find what you are looking for =)

That's the problem with you atheists, you seek the truth and when it's presented to you, you don't want to accept it so I don't know why you keep on asking the same question in different ways. Religion is faith. People get healed and so on all the time and you still seek proof? You breath in air everyday to survive, do you say I want to see this air that I'm breathing in? The air is there, you can't see it and yet that is what keeps you alive. It's the same with God, you can't see him no matter how much you demand to but he is there and it's because of him that you are still on earth.
Modern day miralcles are there, you just don't see them since you've made up your mind that God doesn't exist. The Bible says, "though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand" (Matt. 13:13). The mind of a stubborn person cannot be changed.

1. The universe began to exist
2. The universe has complexity, order and fine-tuning
3. Complexity, order and fine-tuning imply design
4. Design that began to exist implies a designer
5. Therefore, the universe has a designer
or how about...
1. Everything that had a beginning had a cause.
2. The universe had a beginning.
3. Therefore the universe had a Cause.
another version using philosphy...
1. An infinite number of moments cannot be traversed.
2. If there were an infinite number of moments before today, then today would never have come, since an infinite number of moments cannot be traversed.
3. But today HAS come.
4. Hence, there were only a finite number of moments before today (i.e., a beginning of time). And everything with a beginning had a Beginner. Therefore the temporal world had a Beginner (Cause).

My dear, modern day miracles are not irrelevant. Ask my aunt if it is irrelevant that the Doctors can't explain how her inner ear just suddenly "fixed" itself when a very dangerous surgery was needed but God beat them to after sincere prayer and now she doesn't pass out anymore. Ask me how my vertebrae went back in place, with x-rays to prove it without medial intervention. Ask 1001 other people who have documented miracles that have happened to them because of answered prayer. I've seen a leg lengthened to match the other one, I've seen food multiplied when more than 150 people were fed and just as much food was left than what was eaten - I will never get over that one - it still just blows my mind! If God does not exist who is it that lives in my soul and changes me every day through His wonderful fellowship into someone better than I could ever be without Him? Who is it that gives me answers out of nowhere, or calms my fears, or gives me peace that can't be explained when I should be falling apart. My dear, your "doubt" is what is irrelevant - not my God. When you come to the end of yourself - you will find God.

Those that believe need no proof that God exists...We believe by faith. That is hard for non - believer's to accept because they submit to the narrow-mindedness and control of the world that needs proof for everything before they will move. Non - believers are just follow another person's irrelevance.
Lord's Favor.
