So far as it is correctly translated is their usual response, they mainly go by the The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price.

Yes, my favorite books from the past 6 months have been the Bible commentaries called the Thousand Year series by W. Cleon Skousen, and I have also been reading the first volume of "Treasures from the Book of Mormon" by W. Cleon Skousen. The Book of Mormon does not supersede the Bible. The two books were written in different parts of the world and combine together to show that true prophets testify of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. I would also like to add that I love to get Bible calendars with nature photos and Bible scriptures on them, and even my day planner has quotes from Psalms. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

Of course. We are actually studying (the church as a whole of course, not just one ward or stake) the New Testament in Sunday School right now, we finished the Olds Testament last year and will rotate between the bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price every year.

*MistyAnn...there are a few places that verses were translated again by Joseph Smith, by commandment of God. Think about how many times the bible has been translated and retranslated and how many different languages...it makes sense to believe that some important things had been lost...no doctrine was changed, ever. You can read the Joseph Smith Translations, which I think most are in the New Testament and see for yourself. Most of the things are just clarifying events...but they were important enough for God to want them to BE clarified.
There really aren't that many verses. You should read them.

Article of Faith 8- "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God."

The compilation the Christian world knows as the Holy Bible is a very interesting work. Yes, it contains the words of God. I highly doubt it contains all He want mankind to have, it's nowhere near chronological, and I suspect there are things some translators have omitted.

We "Mormons" (LDS) believe the Book of Mormon to be the inspired (aka sacred) record of a family that fled Jerusalem about the time of Jeremiah (yeah, the one in the Bible), about 600BC. They traveled to the Western Hemisphere, quickly split into two groups (sibling rivalry...). One of the authors records the visit of the resurrected LORD. He teaches them, prays with/for them, invites them to come see and feel the prints of the nails in His hands and feet. He repeats the Sermon on the Mount and teaches that contention is of the devil. Sadly, these people destroyed their entire civilization in the next 400 years.

Latter-Day Saints ("Mormons") believe the Book of Mormon was hidden by the last historian, Moroni. In the early 1800's he came as an angel to Joseph Smith, and delivered the record to Joseph for translation. Joseph translated it to English by the power of God. Since then, it's been translated from English into many other languages.

Yes, there will be people who will answer that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the official name of the "Mormon" church) don't believe the Bible, or that we aren't even Christian. Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them.".... Look at the "fruit."

M. C. L. is wrong. We believe in the Bible(Kings James Version) and yes we do have the Book of Mormon but if you would read the next line on the cover it says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" so it doesn't take the place of the Bible but is a companion to it.

yes they do , but they believe that the book of mormon fills in the places that the bible may not of been complete. They also believe they have a living profite here on earth, at all times, and no i am not a moremom but know a lot of them. I still believe that all releigons are based on the same God, and i do not know why they must all fight amoug each other, and not see the truth in the fact that they all worship the same God and Christ.

I've always wondered,What parts are not translated correctly?
It seems to me that there are many places in the Bible that says that the LDS church and Joseph Smith are full of Bologna. They have to put in the words "as far as it's translated correctly",so when a convert brings it up they can say,"Well, there are parts of the Bible that aren't right".They say that they know this from "latter day revelation". In other words, "Our prophet said this, so what the Bible said doesn't count.Bologna, Bologna,Bologna.

they say they do, but why then would they need The book of Mormon

Protestant Christiantianity protested the Roman Catholic Church and would have also protested the Mormon Church if had existed in the 1500's. Protestant Christians do not believe in the Mormon religion

The founder of the Mormon religion had dreams that told him what to do, like flee before you're burned out of town

Mormons use the bible but they think the book of mormon is higher than the bible. You should do more research on what they actually believe.
