what material should be used for making the windings so that the losses in it is as minimum as possible and the designing must be cheaper.

Use pure copper wire . Try to make windings easier to be cooled. Cooling decrease resistant in the wire. Lower resistance higher efficiency.

As the other answers i too agree to the usage of copper wires.But this question is not to be answered very easily.This may take several reasearches.Any way by the use of SKEWING technique your unduction motor may be made efficient.

Answers provided so far is right.

There are two major type of losses in an electrical machine, Iron loss and Copper loss other than frictional loss etc.

To reduce iron loss use better quality iron for core i.e stamping. Silicon iron is generally used.

To reduce copper loss use better quality copper.

copper wire is more efficient and economic other than any material wire.
