A dog may seem "racist" because of being used to seeing and smelling one race on a regular basis. Seeing that they see differently, they see that this persons face is black, which may not be what hes used to. "the same as in children seeing someone of a different color for the first time." Also, every race has a different body odor from the oils in our skin. He should get used to it, if he is trained that this person is not bad, just different than you. But still a human. I had the same problem with my dog.

Honestly, nobody really knows why some animals are like that. My dog don't like hispanic's. They say that black people have a certain scent to them and the dog can smell that. If they are brought up in a caucasion family environment, that smell will be foreign to them and they may feel threatened. And coonhounds can smell a mile away LOL

How interesting - if a little embarrassing! I am sure that you can re-train this, if you have some tolerant friends who are willing to take part.

It's like any other learned defense behaviour - he is instinctively generalising. It's not necessary for you to have actively taught him this: He probably had a bad experience, even something minor but perhaps scary for a pup, with someone who happened to be dark-skinned. His defense mechanism interpreted that as "Dark humans (or perhaps "humans with this signature scent", or possibly even "dark animals") are potentially dangerous".

This is actually the basis of human racisim too - extreme over-generalising at an instinctive level - but thankfully we have the brains to get over it. You can help him get over it by engineering positive experiences for him with dark (brave!) friends: Get them to feed him his dinner when he's hungry, play his favourite game, and be generally good fun and non-threatening, and he will readjust over time.

hahahahahaha
well im sorry to say this
but if he or she is over about 1-2 years old
there ius no hope
we had a rotti that didnt like people
who wore hats
had no moustache
and dark skinned people
my dad trained her from a puppy
i say its because
my dad is white
at the time had a moustache
and to this day doesnt wear hats
and she was a big girl like 220 pounds lots of muscle
but very loyal
i would say TRY to get your dog to interact with more people
take for walks
when you go to the vet
i even know people that when ever they go to the store there dog has to come with them

good luck haha

Since dogs don't see in color it is not because the person is black, Half black or any other race. Some races es have a different body smell than others . This is probably a taught or learned behavior. and should be corrected.

LOL..... it may not be exactly "racist".....
I have a jack russell that absolutely loves everybody...... black, white, hot pink, purple, and the blue man group......
But even my old man (who's been around for a year and a half.....) who she loves MORE THAN ME!!!!! ~~~
He can put on baseball cap, and she thinks it's her own personal target..... She attacks him, bites him, growls, barks, and raises all kinds of hell~~ but it's only when he puts on a hat.....
Maybe your dog is just sensitive to color..... I know this sounds STUPID...... but try having a black friend wear alot of light colored clothes a few times..... see if the dog is less agrivated....
It's at least worth a shot!

I'm not sure why this happens but I have 2 Bullmastiff cross gratedanes and they dont even have to see them they are already going crazy at the gate trying to get them I haven't taught them to be racist eather they just sometimes dont like them weather it is because of their darker features i dont know. but I do know they can be trained out of it slowly if you have the time and guts to do it my black friends can kow walk through our gate and they just love them but anyone else they wont let in.

I don't think the dog sees color I think it sees the actions of black people and that's what sets him off.
If you watch black people their walk is often bouncy and they are constantly moving their hands and arms.I think the dog sees this as aggressive behavior.
Invite your friends over and put the dog in another room if it's that big an issue.

try to take him for a walk in public where there are all different types of people so he can see them. Then try to slowly have the people he doesn't like see him through a window so he doesn't attack then hopefully if they are nice you can slowly introduce him to people. Some dogs are weird like that. Certain breeds don't like men but love women.

If you didn't get the dog as a puppy than he may have been trained that way or may have had a bad experience with some one of color........If you did its not that hes raciest...some dogs notice a difference in the color more than others and he may just not like them....
