1 week ago I had lithotrispy and a scope procedure as well as 2 stents places in my ureter to remove a 2cm kidney stone. Now I am having Horrible bladder spasms. Will this go away after the stents are removed and is there anything that will help? I am getting no sleep because I feel like I always have to pee and when I do it is almost unbearable. I am on an antibiotic so There is no infection. Has anyone else had this?

I have had bladder spasms before. Mine were caused by interstitial cystitis, but they can be caused by other things as well. I assume that if your doctor says there is no infection, your spasms are from the stents irritating the bladder. I had a lot of success taking Levsin during the day (it dissolves under your tongue) and Ditropan before bed (it made me too sleepy when I took it during the day). They both relax the bladder, and both are available by prescription only. Pyridium may also help -- it numbs the urinary tract -- and it is available over the counter. It turns your urine orange. Don't wear your good underwear!

I would hope that the irritation would go away once the stents are removed, but I think that is a question that the urologist would have to answer. I hope you feel better soon!
