right here's the placement. maximum banks opt for to apply a prevalent quantity to uniquely perceive you once you open an account. For US voters, that is clearly the SSN because many monetary company transactions (extremely pastime) must be suggested to the authorities. The ITIN is a quantity issued through the IRS if you don't have an SSN, yet to get one you ought to have a valid tax reason. As an NRA, even if in case your monetary company paid you pastime on your monetary company account, it isn't any longer taxable to you, so the IRS gained't situation you an ITIN only for this purpose. After 9/11, banks even ought to regulate to the Patriot act that calls for them to verify your identity. BOA is prepared to attempt this inclusive of your passport, many banks in the Southwest will settle for Mexican consular playing cards, etc, notwithstanding it is left as a lot because the fellow monetary company in the experience that they are going to artwork with you. it is puzzling to open an account with a brokerage homestead as maximum do not opt for to regulate the withholding subject matters for a foreigner. If illegal immigrants are allowed to, so should American citizens. However, I don't think anyone should be allowed to. As Matthew said, interest earned on bank accounts need to be reported to IRS and so there should not be accounts opened without SSNs.

Yes, they should be able Bank of America is trying to give equal rights.

It's kinda like Wal*Mart now days, you have to have a drivers ID, Military IDs just to return things. It's like they discriminate against people who don't have proper legal documents. Everyone should be able to do whatever they want with thier money.

Business is business people make thier own money they should be able to keep it safe.
