There are some that do, and in turth the only reason why the Mormon Church discontinued the practice was so that Utah could become a state. At that thme a marriage that was legal in one state was recognized in them all and the other stated sisn't wasn to have to recognize polygamous marriage in their state way the only way Utah could become a state was to discomtinue the practice. Fortunately the leader of the Mormon church at the time had a Divine Revelation telling him that the practice had served it's purpose and was no longer necessary. I have met several that thnk the practice should be reinstated as a general practice to restore the religion to its true state (their words not mine).
Personally, as I see it, IF it is part of religious teaching then no onw outside of that religion has any right to deny it, restrict it, or prohibit it to them. The same applies to ALL religious practice in ALL religions.

There is a group of people who call themselves the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They believe in polygamy. But they are nuts!! Warren Jeffs is the leader of this sect and he really is crazy. The main branch of our church doesn't believe in following polygamy anymore. It was given as an edict back in the early days of the church due to men going to fight in wars and leaving their wifes alone. Back then, a woman couldn't own land, so if the husband died, the land was auctioned off, or sold and the family was left with nothing. The women would marry again, and in that way, they could keep their land and not have to worry about being thrown out.
Just a few facts for you to know: Seriously, polygamy is forbidden in the Book of Mormon, except for those times when the Lord commands it (see Jacob 2:30). For reasons I don't understand, the Lord commanded that practice for a period of time from the 1840s until 1890. Yes, it was a Biblical practice for a time, as evidenced by Abraham (see Gen. 25:1-6) and Jacob (see Gen. 29 and 30). The prophet and king David had multiple wives (2 Samuel 12:7-9), as did Solomon (including wives who worshipped strange gods, which was forbidden), Gideon (Judges 8:30), and Jehoiada the priest (2 Chronicles 24:2-3). Deuteronomy 21:15-17 shows polygamy accepted as a valid practice and gives rules governing the inheritance for children of polygamous wives.
It isn't just our church that has practiced this, as these biblical references show. We don't practice it now, and we don't condone practicing it. Any one in our church that is found to practice it now is excommunicated. I'm listing a site that will explain it further for you. There are other questioned answered on this site that might be helpful for anyone with questions. No, I'm not trying to convert you, just trying to show what we believe.

No offense to any of you but you are all uneductated ignorant people. If you would have listened closer to the news they don't say LDS they say FLDS and yes they still call them Mormons even though they broke off from the main LDS church when the church BANNED polygomy. So anyone who is a polygomist is not following the teaching of the LDS church. Yes the LDS church were polygamists at one time but that doesn't mean they are now.

No true Mormon can go against the laws of the country they live in. Also They quit having more than one wife over a hundred years ago. In the past it was necessary at times to have more than one wife because of social and economic circumstances required the taking care of those women who did not have any means of supporting them selves. With the government programs and other help the need at this time does not exist. Any good church or people will find a way to take care of those in need, a common practice was the marriage of those who needed to those who had plenty through out history.

The Mormons who believe in polygamy believe that for each wife they marry they will get to be "Adam and Eve" on their own private "earth" in heaven.
