How come dogs get mad at you when you blow in their face, but then will turn around and stick their head out the window of a moving vehicle going at 55 mph and try to lick the wind?

Blowing in their face is just annoying. Besides it is somewhat confrontational and confusing. Humans like to make eye contact, but in doggie world, eye contact is a challenge. The dominant dog will maintain eye contact, the other dogs will look away.

Hanging your head out the window gives you an olfactory buffet with all kinds of interesting scents that you are passing.

Maybe you have bad breath.....just kidding........its one of the great mysteries of the world but i think it has to do with the way that the wind hits.....like when you blow in there face there is a greater force to one particular area and when they stick there head out the window than they have the wind spread around their head.....

Most of the dogs I have owned have been the same way.....but the pug/chihuahua I have now is the opposite. He hides in the car.....well away from the windows; and if you blow in his face....he lunges straight at you and tries to bite the air coming out of your mouth !

U must really stink!(jk) well if u blow in their face thats just annoying and they dont do it out of their own free will unlike sticking their face out the window.

How would you like it if I blew in your face? Think about it, dogs have a WAY more sensitive sense of smell than we do....hallitosis city, man, come on!!!

I think it is due to choice. They choose to stick their head out for their enjoyment, we do it to tease them.
