I've had some bad realtionships in the past, and have been hurt pretty bad. Ever since then is how've I've been shy. I have a relly hard time trusting guys now and keep my guard up way too high. And its something I can;t control. I just need to stop being so shy ad I need to know how to talk to guys.

You can do what I did. I used to be shy.
I just hung around where the cute guys were and waited for them to talk to me. They always did because I would be there with no other females with me.
A guy is MUCH more apt to walking up to you and talking to you, if you are alone. Guys are shy if there are 2 or more girls there. They're less likely to walk up to you.
I found that guys were really attracted to shy girls. I know I always had a lot of guys hanging around me at school and at my house.
Girls would ask me my secret. What I just told you is it. It works.
Let the guy control the conversation at first. By nature, you will find the words to answer back and start talking.
If there is a time when it just becomes dead silent and no one is talking, just ask them personal questions such as, what is their favorite movie, restaurant, band or video game.
Does he play or watch sports? What teams does he like?
Does he have any brothers or sisters? Has he lived here all of his life or did he move there? What's his favorite kind of car and why?
Does he know how to fix a car? Has he ever driven a motorcycle?
Does he have any tatoos that you can't see? What class does he hate the most? What does he like to do after school?
This list should get you started. And don't forget to smile and smile often while looking into their eyes. Always act as if what they are saying is the most fascinating thing you've ever heard. Act VERY interested in EVERYTHING they say.

Well, it all depends on who you really are inside. Sure, you are shy, but you can be a nice girl. I don't particularly mind shy girls, it's actually kind of cute to see they're shy. Just the look on their faces, those little smiles and the withdrawls, you know? I don't know about other guys, but I just say when you think it's an appropriate time to talk, just say what you have to say.
By the way, I just thought of something good. Pretend you're in a chat room with these guys and you got nothing to lose, so say something, you know? This helped me, although I felt like crying almost when I was told "no" by a girl I admired for quite some time.

Nope. Guys have told me that shy girls turn them off because they can't tell how they feel. Most girls when they like a guy are able to show it by the way they act. Shy girls, can't do that. Most of them are unable to have good conversations because they never know what to say! So, it ends up being really awkward! My advice is to practice saying hi to people and learning how to have conversations about anything..weather, people, it does not matter. Talk about stuff that they like. For eXample, sports, movies, and t.v. shows...To get over your shyness I would try to meet some outgoing people and get tips from them. Being shy can be a big hinderance because you are unable to approach people and make friends easily. Focus on being friendly and approachable! SMILE AND LAUGH at his jokes! Guys love that! Look like you are having a great time with him! Touch him on his arm or leg if you like him! Be brave!

I know a ton of guys who like quiet, shy girls. There is nothing wrong with having a high guard. Alot of guys are creeps, but the few who aren't, than they are for you. Just simply talking to them gets them the chance to meet and find out about you. Just talk and be yourself, no one else, around them. That way they will see you for the girl you really are.

ok im also shy guy and very silent guys ever when i meet new friends of girls or just old friends of girls..the wanting you to do just ask him/her little bit may be start in "hi" then ask 5 simple questions like "what you doing" "where your from" etc. then dont ask a bad questions u really feel them sorry for ever..and u make really down..ask them nicely and talk them slowly not very slow like turle when you becom close to him/her u can talk just like a normal people i mean just like others (sorry)...go girl u can do it and spit it out!! =)..
btw i like the girls being shy,pretty,nice girl like u..thats my type of girl i like..

once you find a certain guy, you won't need to have your guard up so high, because you will feel completety at home with this person

guys like confidence, be tru to urself, and go for it, never let anything get u down. thats my motto and i stick to it, now i hav a pack ov guys drooling lol so to speak.
