If someone calls CPS will they see that you are doing good as a parent or will you be in the system forever because someone called them? Sometimes I worry, people can be so nosy.. and I think I am doing good, but sometimes I wonder, what if someone sees something that I am doing wrong that I don't know I am doing wrong?

In this day and age, is that a common fear?

I don't think I am doing anything wrong, but people seem so quick to cristisize parents these days and tell you what is fair and not fair for your kids.

I think your fears are common and normal. Ever since I became a parent, I worry about EVERYTHING, including my child being wrongfully taken away from me. It's just because you adore and love your child with such ferocity. You've become a mother hen, and as such, you fear the worst. But you'll be okay! Just keep loving that kid like crazy. No one can fault you for that. :o)

This is very common now I think. In fact just last week my daughter went to school with a bruise on her eye from hitting the night stand after bouncing on my bed. It wasn't very noticable but I had to explain the whole thing since she's 4 and has a slight speech problem and I felt really terrible and scared afterwards. My kids are well fed, clean, well dressed, and happy...so it was a shock that I was called about it. Then I was told that they may or may not file a report. I do understand better safe than sorry, but the fear of being investigated or having your kids taken away is definitely valid.

Sometimes I wonder if my neighbors are going to call CPS. My 8 yr old daughter has been giving me a hard time and I yell, she screams, I curse... There are times I know my neighbors can her us(live in a row home). But I know that I am a good mom, I have great kids w/ great manners, I try to remember no parent is perfect. Raising my kids is the most important thing in my life, and also the hardest.

If you're not neglectful or abusive, you have nothing to worry about. Also, removing children from their homes is not the first thing CPS does when they receive a call from someone. They conduct an investigation... and they have to make every effort to reunify the family before looking at long-term foster care...

If you're balanced in providing love, nurturing, and discipline, and you're caring for your child's physical needs for food, shelter, and water, and clothing, then I don't see a problem. If you're having some difficulty with anger management, get help BEFORE this becomes an issue.

Yes it is very normal to worry. CPS is so screwed up that it does happen. People nowadays call for small things. Kids get bruises playing. You can't let the worry get the best of you. If you are a good parent that's what matters.

Edit: My husband is a police officer. He has seen kids being severely abused remain in the home and kids who fell down get temporarily taken away. But they won't be in the system forever unless you really are abusing them.

You sound a little stressed, insecure and self judgmental.
I've SO been there and done that.I have that worry sometimes too.My mother had polio and I was a very ill/sickly child for whatever reason, not because of my mother. But, CPS was called on a daily basis...they came to our house allot when I was a kid.We were poor,so things didn't always look good either.I was always afraid of being taken away.
So, now I worry...I know how people can be.My first son was a sneaky little terd...so we were in the ER allot when he was small,he got into medications, fell from chairs or stairs....those types of things...lol.I bought child locks for the cabinets,fridge,toilet...you name it and he still managed to pry them open when i wasn't looking.I was soooooo scared CPS was going to come to my house. lol
Just do your best as a mother, love your children, care for them the best you can and everything will be ok.

Why would you think that? You sound paranoid. If you are that paranoid you must be doing something wrong!
People may be nosy and there are evil people that would do Sh*t like that but if you don't have nothing to hide why fear everything is investigated before action of taking your kids takes place! RESEARCH Sweet heart!

One of the reasons I'm glad I don't live in US and we don't have CPS to follow after us and our parents.
OK,what do you think could be so wrong that your children would be taken away?CPS dn't take children away just like that. They need proved evidences to take a child away from him/her mother. If you are afraid because you spank them and if someone sees you they may consider it as abuse. Then I recommend you change your discipline methods with non-spanking and you'll be OK.It really isn't OK to spank children and I would be worried if I see a mother doing that. But if she disciplines the child firmly and kindly and witht he needed respect I would never think of calling CPS.

If you are trying your best you will always question yourself. That's normal. If someone has actually called CPS about something you did, you may have a problem.
