I was actually at a bakery tonight, asking the same question. A half-sheet will yield 40 pieces. A quarter sheet will yield 20 pieces. Hope this helps!

A half sheet, depending on where you go, will feed 35 -40 people. A quarter sheet, depending on where you go, will feed 18 - 22 people. Grocery store cakes are smaller than at a bakery. I found this out the hard way.

A half sheet cake should be 12 X 16 inches
so if you cut it by 3 in.the narrow way = 4
and 3 in. the long way =5 ( 4X5 = 20 servings)
this would give you a generous serving 3X3 in.
If the cake is two layers .cut it 2 in. narrow way = 6 and long way 3 in. = 5 ( 5X6=30 serv.
serving size would be 2 X 3 in.
over the years I have made more shower cakes than I care to remember I usualy cut them 2x3 or 2x2 bakery sheet pans are 16x24 those sizes worked best for me
have a great party , jim b
