If you can't afford to pay for a quality pug from a quality breeder who does health testing, structure checks, temperament tests, etc, how are you going to afford the vet if something goes wrong? Can't afford the vet, can't afford the pet. Check on petfinder.com to save a life, but not before you can afford one. Buying Ol' Roy doesn't cut it as being able to afford one, by the way.

Look online for a pug rescue group in your area, that's cheaper than a breeder. If you want a purebred........... you may have to search for awhile.
Or, if a mix is OK, keep an eye on your local shelter or check www.petfinder.com.

check for breed specialized rescues, local rescues, animal shelters.
a lot depends on the age of the animal and what type of disabilities you are willing to deal with. sometimes you may find the opprotunity to adopt disabled animals that are in true need of homes, all you have to do is provide a safe, happy, healthy place for it to live!
