My friend and I are going on a road trip. It's going to be approx. a 750 mile drive. She has a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. We're splitting the gas costs, so I was wondering what a rough estimate would be fore how much it will cost in gas to drive that far? Thanks!

That car, depending on model, is listed at 22 MPG city and 30-32 MPG highway. Depending on the model, how much city driving, how well maintained the car is, etc., mileage can vary.

Estimate 25 MPG, about 30 gallons of gas needed at $2 per gallon. That's $60. Half is $30. Giving wiggle room is about $50.

Are you going anywhere at the end of this road trip? Is it a round trip (then double it.)

My recommendation would be to purchase a late model Buell Blast (~500cc). They are easy to ride and maneuver. They have a very responsive midrange. They can cruise all day at 65-70 miles per hour. And last but not least, they get around 70 miles per gallon on the highway! Another good recommendation would be a Ninja 250, which gets similar gas mileage, has a higher top speed, but has lower mid-range torque. Understand that when it comes to motorcycles, the higher you go in cc's, the less your gas mileage will be. So you can find many cruisers in the 750 to 1200 cc range that will be more comfortable at freeway speeds, but will get lower mpg (around 35 to 50 to be precise). You will also be looking at a higher initial investment, which may or may not be an issue for you. All in all, consider your budget, do some research, and you will ultimately find the right bike for you.

DO this, take the 750 miles divide that by the MPG of the alero which is tagged at 29 whaic is around 25 gallons take that time the gas for the area +10% so let's say gas id 2.20/gal time 25 wnich leaves about a cost of 55 bucks for the 750 miles.

Well. lets say her 2000 Oldsmobile gets about 15 miles per gallon of gas on the highway. It's about a 750 mile trip you say.

1. First, divide 750 miles by 15 miles per gallon
= 50.0 gallons

2. Average gas price for regular gas is $2.25
per gallon, so now you multiply the number
of gallons we'll need (from Step #1) times
the cost per gallon: 50.0 gallons x $2.25 =
$112.50

3. If you split the gas cost, $112.50 divided by
two = $56.25 each.

This is indeed a rough estimate since I'm merely guessing what kind of mileage her car gets, the actual gas price you'll pay, etc.

Also, you don't specify whether or not the 750 miles is round trip or one way. If it is only one way, then double the $56.25 = $112.50. If the 750 miles were Round Trip, then stick to the $56.25 "guestimate".

In any case, hope this helped. Enjoy your trip and REMEMBER TO BUCKLE UP !!!!

i own a shop, and i would have to know how much mileage she if is getting to the gallon,,you can make a trip like this on a tank and a half,so figure how much it holds,i don't know that info, but its not going to cost that much to make the trip, two tanks should get you there if its 750 one way,and two back,so you can figure it from there, good luck i hope this help,s.
