I just recently found out that my cat is a Maine Coon. From what I understand they are fairly common in shelters but have recently been closed booked by the cat fanciers association. They are usually very large, long and sleek, they also have a very regal face. Check them out on the web, they are not hard to identify.

There are cats known as Maine Coons. It's a very large cat about 20 to 25 pounds. I don't know where they originated from. Try a search for Maine Coons to find out more about them and if it is the cat you are talking about.
