I'l be married 24 years on the 19th of Feb but always thought New Year's Eve was the worst when single. But as for me, husband out of town, had a physical today (ugh) and got a phone call and a card from him. So being married doesn't necessarily mean it will be a "special day" so don't feel bad singles! Question as above.

Chill out- those who said it was negative. I did not say that you had to be negative on any of the holidays. I even said and feel that it is not necessarily a special day if married, IOW don't feel too bad about a holiday. Me thinks you doth protest too much!

Thanks to all. Yes I remember those days and as stated New Year's Eve was the worst for me. Then waited to get married (was 28) and so far so good. So I was single, didn't get married for the sake of being married and due to my age and now am still married while a lot of people I know got married for the wrong reasons and had to do it- sometimes 2 or 3 time again! Cheer up those who feel the pressure of the holidays. I now wish I did not worry so much then. If you do it right the first time and it only takes one, you'll hopefully be in a good relationship forever. BTW everyday for married people it also takes work- so yin and yang if you will. For me most days I like being married. But sometimes, it is very challenging. Good luck to all of you and thanks again!

This is what i think singles should do!!!
Christmas: Just becuase your single doesnt mean you have to be alone....spend it with family!!!!
New years eve: Party with friends!!!!
Valentines day: Show your friends some love!!!
None are bad.....you just gotta make the best out of it!!!!!♥
By the way....im single and lovin it!!!!!!!!

Your question is negatively worded and inaccurate. The three days you named are in fact some of the best days to be single. These are the days that EVERY single is looking for a connection and the chances to find a "soul-mate" are that much greater. The other option, as your questions is worded is unacceptable: apparently singles in your mind sit home and pine about being married and not having anyone. Alone in the dark wallowing in despair while everyone else is happy. Now is that any outlook to have on life? Perhaps I am simply a positive single enjoying all life has to offer, but I refuse to accept such a negative connotation of being single on holidays. Like Mike Muir says, "If you're bored, it's 'cuz your boring." Make life happen.

Why on earth do you think single people feel sad during these 'occasions'? We have a free reign during celebrations of any type with no ties to spouses or significant others, and although we may not wake up to a mass produced card and a half dead bunch of flowers from the local garage on Valentines day, we do OK. We are not the ones in need of pity.

Valentine's day, you see so many happy couples walking around my school, and some of your friends brag about where their boyfriend are taking them and giving them, ugh. And you just feel so lonely and feel that deep need within you to seek love, not to get the overly commercialized portion of presents and candy, but to get the feeling you see in those couple's eyes.
That happiness, that burning reason to live through anything for another person and know they will be there for you when you fall.

V-Day is without a doubt the worse. I'm single and I get sad seeing all the couples celebrating their day. I spend Christmas and New Years with my friends and family.

I say V - Day because its just makes u feel very unsecure about yourself and makes u doubt yourself
Second I'd say is new years eve because if u are crushing on someone then the chances are they will kiss someone else that night
Third is christmas because u have other people to make u feel good and its jesus birthday. good luck
