Hmm, I lived in Hong Kong for three years. I'd definitely recommend Lantau Island for scenery. For a 'round trip' consider taking the Ngong Ping cable car from the airport up to the Big Bhudda, then the bus down to Mui Wo, and the ferry back to Hong Kong (ideally arriving back at dusk for a spectacular entrance..). Cheung Chau has some nice walks and great restaurants, as does Lamma Island. I'd also recommend just about anywhere around Clearwater Bay and Sai Kung for scenery. For unusual tours there are 'guided' hikes, and boats that take you out to see the pink dolphins around Lantau. There's an impossibly wide and great selection of restaurants in Hong Kong, but I'd recommend the roof top bar of the Fringe Club for a relaxing break.

I think the best place to go that not many tourists or locals even go (unless there are fireworks) is the promenade behind the Inter-Continental and Renaissance Hotels on the Kowloon side. The easiest way to get there is to get off the Star Ferry and stay to your right along the water, the evening, after dark is best, and will give you unbelievable views of the Hong Kong Skyline with virtually no one else around. Also, take a taxi to Stanley, although the market there is quite touristy and crowded (but worth checking out), there are some great restaurants and cafes across from the beach that are great for getting away from the bustle of Hong Kong and relaxing (weekends can be a bit crowded), and the inexpensive taxi ride over is beautiful too, great place to have lunch. Another great thing to do is to take the mid-level escalators (just above Central, on the island), a series of connected escalators that go for blocks and blocks up to the trendy nightspots of SoHo and from there Lang Kwai Fong, two great places to have drinks and eat, although somewhat touristy.
One last thing, take a ferry to Cheng Chau Island, and stroll around the pedestrian island (no cars allowed), there are great seafood restaurants and cafes there, not too many tourists, not too far and a beautiful island and ferry ride. I better stop here, have a great trip!

Sorry, Hong Kong does not keep any great spot secret regardless of tourists or the locals. Too many people and too few places to remain secretive.
But the Saigun areas on east Kowloon side would be a good start. It's got great scenery and beaches and seafood etc. It's also popular for wind surfing, kayaking and BBQ. Ask around about Pak Sa Wan which means white sand bay.

Eating is the BEST thing in Hong Kong. Check out Canton Street in Kowloon because they have so many restaurants and shopping malls locate at the same area.
I doubt you can find any unpopular tourist spots in HK because HK is so packed that people are everywhere.

hey, ,i think this website is really cool
it gives u ideas on where to go sightseeing, shopping ,and dining and entertainment.
hope that it can give u help!! ;)
if u want to try the local snacks of HK, i think u should just go to Mong Kok
u know there are just many many kinds of local snacks for u to choose,
just like u should have heard, curry fish ball and siu mai
and there are a lot of shops and shopping malls, which sells fashion clothes there.
and many young people in HK loves going there,
but just on point u have to becareful, that there is a very crowded place and for sure, the air quality there can say is "the worst" in HK
but i think it is OK to stay there for just about 1 or 2 hours!
Mongkok and Causeway Bay both are very famous places for local snacks and fashion things!
i have been to HK before, and i think Tsing Yi is quite a good place there.
that it is near to the sea and the air quality there is very good.
so there are some coffee shops and cafes outside the Maritime shopping mall with good seaview.
i think there will be a good place for u to go for rest after going all the crowded places in HK
Also, Tsing Yi is just near to the HK disneyland
and for the cultural visit, i think u should go to the islands in HK, like cheung chau and lantau island.
u know the big buddha is just located on the Lantau island
and there are lots of temples located on Cheung chau
hope that my information can really give u some help!

Duddell Street Steps and Gas Lamps, Hong Kong Racing Museum, Stanley Market and Sai Kung Seafood Street. These are all great places to go. But they are not hidden spots. You can ask this question on http://ask.jongo.com/ they answer all China-related questions. Maybe you can find some hidden tour spots there.

I have a spot under the spare tire in my car where I can hide items I just bought. I have an designer handbag fetish and jewlery fetish that has been known to get me into the dog house. I also have a hiding place in his walk in closet that he would never find!!! Right under his nose!!! That's got to be the best one!!! At xmas it becomes a mess, I have to keep a list where I hide gifts or we'll be finding them all year long!!!
