There are strict limits imposed by the US Government when it comes to broadcast TV. Nudity, sexual or excretory acts, and offensive language are not permitted. Most networks have censors that will not even permit the use of "God" (or the name of any other religious figure) in a curse, because that will offend many people. Of course, the definition of "nudity" may differ from your culture's.

In other media, there are fewer restrictions. The government defines child porn as the depiction of anyone (male or female) under the age of 18 engaging in a sexual act. Images of people under 18 meant to incite lust in the viewer are also classified as child pornography. All such images are illegal to possess under federal and state laws. Some states also have legal restrictions of images of certain sexual acts, for example sex between humans and animals. Pornography that does not violate these laws can be viewed on cable TV, over the Internet, on DVDs or video tapes, or in magazines, as long as there is some effort by the provider to limit access to adults. This usually means having access to a valid credit card or Driver's License that shows an age over 17. This approach is not always successful, since some children are given credit cards by their parents or they might steal a credit card number just for this purpose.

In any event, children in the US are much more likely to view explicit sexual images on the Internet than in any other medium. Most Internet Service Providers will supply their customers with security software to limit this access, but since children are often more computer-literate than their parents they often are the ones who install such software (and have the passwords!) Child advocates recommend adult supervision of children's Internet access, such as keeping the computer in a common area of the house.

UNFORTUNATELY -- the media (like in other areas around the world) make sexual scenes very accessible to children .. and it is NOT accidental on their part.

There is the option of Parental Controls (for those who are lucky enough to be able to afford to replace their older TVs with one that has this control), and yes, there is the controls on the Internet to block content that you deem inappropriate for children, but so much of the advertising has a sexual component, that even this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree just IGNORES all advertising, and switches the channels to AVOID the sexual content shown nowadays.

yes, and it's generally not "accidental"
The media learned a long time ago
"sex sells"
they also learned a long time ago
"teach the kids early about consumerism"
so uh..it's no accident when kids see sex on TV.

IT's a daily occurrence (even on the news)..

There are parental controls available, but sex is everywhere, on billboards and on the news.
