His hands were already callused and extremely dry and they crack. After working with the acid he says that they are on fire and he needs something for them to help with the burning.

You use baking soda to clean your car battery cables so I think that this may help if you soak his hands in water mixed with soda. You could also put honey on them because it is a natural antibiotic and it might help heal them without causing any more pain than he might already be in. I hope that this helps. My dad burned his hands really bad with a handful of bottlerockets one time and he soaked them in apple cider vinegar. It burned for a little while but it didn't hardly blister. This might help too. My son had cracks in his hands and couldn't get rid of them until we went to Myrtle Beach and he went swimming in the Ocean. The cracks cleared up from the salt water I guess. It might have been something else in the water I don't know for sure.

Well, men will not ask another man to go to the bathroom with them. I usually do my thing, wash my hands and I am done. I even take it a step further. I will use a paper towel to open the door after I wash my hands. You never know what nasty person touched the door handle before ...think about it for all those people who wash their hands there are a few nasty ones who will use the restroom, not wash their hands then touch the door handle. Now you come alone wash your hands and touch that same door handle. Now I have seen some men take a number 2 and pass their hands under the running water without soap. They are just plan nasty. Which is the reason I don't eat finger foods at party's...people are just nasty.

Thank God they were already calloused. That was helpful for the palms and inside fingers anyway! As for the rest, sounds like he may need to start using gloves. He should buy extra think latex gloves by the hundreds and change them every 45 mins. Baby powder will help to put a fresh pair on quickly. As for the burning now, peroxide and Neosporin. Bandaids on the bad parts.

Tell him to wear gloves when he's working. If his working place doesn't have any gloves for him to use, he needs to go and complain.

Best solution for everything is to wash the hands with plenty of water to dilute the acid. After he's done, he can put on some lotion to help moisturize the hands. I personally prefer Neutrogena Body Moisturizer Daily Therapeutic Lotion.

I would get help right away. The acid probably got under the skin through the cracks.

Try coating them with vasoline or a triple antibiotic ointment and put some rubber gloves on when he comes in from work and leave that on as long as he can. My grandmother is allergic to metals and her hands get very cracked and that is what she does. It helps her, I hope it helps your man.

There is a lotion type product...I can't think of the name right now...but it's something like "lotion glove" or "liquid glove" or something...but this stuff...you put it on like a lotion and it creates a barrier on your skin like a glove, without having them on.

Worth a try.
