I have a 7 week old pup and I saw blood in her pee would this mean an UTI?

I am taking her back to the vet Fri. can pups and dogs get UTI if you have any good websites for me to learn more about this that would be great .This would explane why she cries when she has to go potty .PLS no rude answers ty

There are a few things that could cause blood in the urine. For a 7 week old female puppy, the most common cause would be a urinary tract infection - these are common in pups because they do not yet have a fully developed immune system to ward off infection. Other causes could be bladder stones (VERY uncommon in a pup that age), or blood disorders.

Just take her to the vet like you've planned. If the doctor thinks it is a UTI (they will probably run a urine test), antibiotics usually clear it up without a problem.

Also, UTI's are painful, so yes, it explains why she cries when she urinates.

Yes, a dog or puppy can get a urinary trac infection. It may also be something else though. She should be fine.. If it is a uti then it would explain her whimpers yes. Nothing to be worried about if it is.. just try and get her to drink alot.. maybe change to a different dog food. Your vet on Fri. can take a sample and they will be able to tell you.
