my goodness...i never expected such an outpouring of positive answers...i was gonna end this and show my answer to set your minds at ease...but this says i must wait 4 hrs...so i do it this way. she is my darling. i am continuously fascinated by her abilities and no fear. she is indoor only. has many kitty playmates. i rescue kitties. i wouldnt think of ending her life over this...she is more precious for it. she isnt in pain. my vet is the one who removed both her eyes due to secondary glaucoma, and knows her needs. so please rest easy...i truly am sorry for upsetting you all, i had no idea i would receive such a response.

Yes!!!! I hate your question! She can still run around and play and eat and drink and be taken outside for fresh air. She just needs a little more attention than seeing cats. PLEASE! don't put her to sleep. That's so SAD! Either find someone who would love to have her, maybe an elderly person who needs a companion, or bring her to an Animal Rescue Organization where they have a no-kill policy. She's in no pain, please, you're breaking my heart!

She's a living creature and just because she's blind doesn't make her a defective cat that you just put down because her problem is inconvenient. A blind person can find his way around his own home with ease and an animal could do it even better. She is still capable of love and has all the same feelings that you have. She is scared and needs you help, assistance and love. If you can't give that to her then take her to an animal shelter. She will definitely be adopted by some compassionate person who will be patient with her and love her as much as if she could see. Animals are very special they are all beautiful, loyal and love unconditionally. You can't find one human being who fits that criteria. God has given you this cat as a gift and maybe because he wants you to learn compassion. Thank God for your wonderful gift and love her for her own little personality. Good luck and God bless you. Please give her a big kiss and hug from me. Thanks.

Yes! Just as a totally blind person has the right to live. The kitten will adapt to it's surroundings and use it's sense of smell to find the litter box etc....If the kitten was born blind, it doesn't know any different and will certainly adjust. Mind you, there will have to be certain precautions taken, but as long as the kitten is an indoor cat, which I believe all cats should be, it will have a great life and make a loving pet. Please keep and love your kitten as you would your child if he/she were blind....

Sure! If they are healthy and in no pain, definitely. I had a dog that was blind and deaf, and she lived in our house for years with no problems, I guess using her great sense of smell and just having been used to our house. She even ran away from our house one time and went adventuring when she was about 13 even though she was blind and deaf, she went down the street to visit some of our neighbors!

She was just totally spunky. You really couldn't realize she was blind and deaf she did so well. As a puppy, this was a dog, a West Highland terrier that climbed a tree, chased a Great Dane (and the dog ran away from her!), etc. so she was not about to let a little blindness & deafness defeat her!

If you 've had her all this time and you knew she wasy blind, what difference does it make now ??? She probably knows her away around and knows everyone by scent. I bet she plays and has a good time...I have a deaf ferret. I see no difference in him and the other 3 I have...I talk to him. (he may not hear me, but I think he watches our mouths. I know he knows hand signals. If he wants something he askes just like the others, looks up and pitty-pats our legs).....We pick him up for sniff arounds and to watch us cook. (he REALLY loves to watch us cook. He doesn't eat any of it, he's just interested)
I'd keep the cat...I love animals. I keep them till they die. Taking care of the sick ones. ( I lost 5 ferrets in 19, 1/2 mnths to cancer of different kinds...they had the best care money could buy and I took care of them 24/7. Even if it meant I didn't get to stay away from home long.)
I think if you bring an animal into your home, it's for life. (unless there is something wrong, like unpredictable rage/biting, that cannot be curbed.)

Of she has the right to live.Only cuz she's blind doesn't mean put her down she is a living creature.Besides she is still too young to dye.But if you don't want her you should try finding another home for her maybe like an older couple or so.I think blind kitties are special because they always want to be by you and always want your attention. But please whatever you do don't let her live be over.

Does a blind human have the right to live. Then you know that the kitten as that right as well. If you are prepared to take care of it and love it then i'm sure that this cat will love and appreciate all you will be doing for it. Good deeds done on earth will pay off when you go to heaven.

it all depends on the kittens state of living...cats adapt very well though and I'm sure she's doing fine.
Does the kitten have a right to live?? Yes, I had a completely deaf cat who was the best mouser around...If her life was not a good one though because of her defect I would have talked to my vet and asked them what they would do....If they said that it's no life put them down I would. I know it sounds bad...but I truly want what best for my animal.

And by a bad state of living I mean that the cat wouldn't be able to function normally and be suffering....I wouldn't put down a healthy animal EVER!! So please don't think that I would

My friend has a blind cat that's close to 15 years old. Their senses are so keen that I believe that they can live a full and happy life without their sight, AS LONG as you are compassionate to keep them inside. Only let them outside under close supervision.

If you saw this cat, you wouldn't know that she was blind. She knows exactly where everyone and everything was even without her sight. The only way you can tell is to look closely at her eyes, and only then can you can see the damage that was done.

Unfortunately, she was blinded because she climbed under the hood of her owners warm car one morning, and he wasn't aware to bang the hood of the car before he started it. To all cat owners (or those who feed strays): give your car a good slappin' before you start it up.
