Same thing happened to my dog. You should get your dog's teeth examined. It sounds like he/she has a tooth root abcess. There's really only one solution. You need to have the tooth taken out. Find a vet who does this type of extraction a lot. It's fairly common, but sometimes it's hard to remove a molar because they have several roots. You'll want to find a vet with all the dental equipment necessary.
Just wanted to add...my vet recognized this as soon as I brought my dog in. When one side of the face swells like that, it's usually a root abcess.

Why not take the dog to the vet? If the same thing happened to you, you'd go to the doctor, right?
Plus, your dog can't speak for h/erself, so you can't be absolutely sure that something traumatic didn't happen to h/er.

Maybe its allergic to something, wash the area with water and soap and if it doesn't goes away by tomorrow morning then take it to the veterinarian. Maybe he got bit by something, or he scratched its nose by mistake.
