Greenpeace and other environmental or animal protection groups oppose whale hunting because they think whales are very, very intelligent animals and have the right to live. This opinion that whales are intelligent is not always based on factual studies that can be replicated by another group of scientists that support whale hunting. It is often based on nothing more than a hunch or gut feeling or by observing certain behaviors common in humans and leaping to the conclusion they are extremely intelligent, which could very well be but some proof is always better.

Greenpeace most likely opposes the fishing done by fisheries that use destructive nets and over-fish. Some of these nets do more than capture the aquatic animals that were not intended to be caught (which can injure and kill endangered species) but can be destructive to the entire ecosystem. Some of these nets can be dragged across the ocean floor and scrapes and destroys the habitats of the creatures that live on the floor. There are many fish that eat those floor-living creatures and depend on them to live. If the nets destroy the fish's food source, then the fish will also go extinct as well as the other fish that eat that fish, (a chain reaction.) When fisheries go out to harvest, they have their sights set to fish out as much as they can, also causing the extinction of the many species they fish. One must remember that once a fish species is gone, there is no way of bringing it back. Greenpeace has the good intention of preventing the complete loss of an economically valuable resource.
We should care about Aquatic Biodiversity because the world's aquatic systems provide us with important ecological and economic services. For instance, chemicals from several types of sea anemones, sponges, and mollusks have antibiotic and anticancer properties. Globally, we get about 6% of our total protein and almost a fifth of our animal protein from marine fish and shellfish. If we destroy or over harvest the natural resource, we will suffer a great loss.

greenpeace opposes the whaling industry for the simple fact that humans over fish and make species extinct. and as far as sport fishing well if you catch the fish for yourself why should that be banned. Single hook single fish. take it home eat it. The problem lies in the comercial industry with the nets. Unfortunatly nets capture and kill everything in the nets. swoop up millions of fish that get thrown over board dead just because it is not the fish that the boat has a licence for. Nets are just horrible. Want to know more watch documentries you will learn why greenpeace is out there doing what they do.Thank god for them more people should jump on the band wagon and try to prevent the destruction of our environment.

Why do we continue to allow Greenpeace? They are a terrorist group. Attacking ships at sea. Causing harm and injury to people all over the world. Violence never resoles an issue.
