State, local, and regional scholarships are DEFINATELY the way to go when looking for aid to cover the gaps between family, federal, and institutional assistance.

You can get the HOPE grant if you maintain a B average in school. If you live here, you can get it right out of high school. If not, I do not know how long you hve to be in college till you can get it.
