Depending on the extent of the crossbite, and your age, there are a couple of procedures that can be used.

Braces are by far going to be your best option. They are the most expensive, but they not only fix your crossbite, they fix any other issues with your bite and give you perfectly aligned teeth. You have a beautiful smile when you're done.

You can also ask about an expansion appliance, sometimes it's possible to use a retainer that you turn a little each day, it expands and with it so does your mouth, in the end you're out of crossbite.

Talk to your dentist/orthodontist and find out what the best option(s) for you are and then figure out what works for your budget. Crossbites aren't good because they can be unattractive and because they can cause problems later on like headaches, or jawaches etc.

I just took my 3 year old to the dentist for the first time ever today. She's got a posterior cross bite.... or something to that effect. Basically, she can't close her teeth all of the way without moving her jaw to the side. Her left side of her mouth closes completely, but has about a half-inch gap between the top and bottom teeth on the right side. Anyhow..... the dentist said that she's going to need TWO sets of braces. When she is young.... aroung pre-teen (ten to twelve) and again in high school, to cure this issue. It sucks because it's going to cost a lot of money. But she has a very well-spaced jaw, so her teeth will grow in fine. It's just the posterior crossbite could become problematic.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem I couldn't fit my little pinkie in the roof of my mouth. I had my palette expanded with a little device that you put a key in it and turn it once a day and it sure did the trick. 9 years latter I am still doing better. I also had braces put on after that was removed.
