What you can offer them is your experiences and
values. They can help you mingle better in the
vastness of New York City, as well as give insight
into the do's and don't. You are going to experience culture shock for a time.

Afterwhile, you will be so accostumed to your surrounding it will be second nature to you.There are going to be challenges to be sure. As a result of this you will not only be a better teacher, but a better human being. Think of the rewards and opportunities of the influence you will gradually have among the faculity and your students.
It may seem you are the lamb among wolves,
but the summit of ideas and experiences are ones you can't leave to someone else. I envy you
for the journey you are about to take.

Perhaps this teacher could give the students some insights on the role of Texas during the American Civil War. I know this falls into the category of History, but open-minded students may want to hear more about the division between the Northern and Southern States since they are from the North. Also, one can compare the difference between the English used by the authors of the late 1800s to what the students read today.

The same thing that you can offer kids in texas. I live in New York City and they practicilly are hurting for qualified teachers. Just beware the pay is just as low as it is in texas, and the cost of living is higher here.
