I mentioned this in another thread, i dont think its been said before at least not to my knowledge so i ask for your thoughts on this. In genesis 1 it talks about creation the begining of all things. After creating heavens and earth, Light and dark. God next goes into creating first all maner of things that swim in the sea and fly in the air, Then he creates all things that crawl on the land and livestock. Its not until the 6 th day that he creates man. Now if the Bible was writen 1000's of years ago by man. How would the Man know to put this in this particular order of things. The study of fossils and layers of strata is a newer science.. its definetly not one that is 1000's of years old. But yet These men or man that wrote the bible chose this way? Was it blind luck? odd coincidence? if you think it threw the number of different possiblilites it couldve been writen Men first, then fish, then birds, then mamals. Or Mamals first, men, then birds, then fish, or ..well you get the idea/

Very good point. Never thought about it. But it does seem to follow the lines of science's main theory, with the execption of our current definition of days.

Kudos!

I thought about this as a young man, but on closer inspection the Gen. ch.1 chronology is inaccurate.

Here's a breakdown:

God creates Earth
Day 1:
Light
Day 2:
The sky and oceans
Day 3:
The ground
Trees, and seed-bearing plants
Day 4:
The sun and moon
Stars
Day 5:
Fish and birds
Day 6:
Land animals and humans

To the best of our knowledge, the list actually went like this:

Light
Stars
The sun
The Earth (including the ground)
The Moon
Oceans
The sky (atmosphere)
Fish
Trees
Land-animals
Seed-bearing plants
Birds
Humans

Hope that helps clear it up.

It depends on the source material for the Bible. There have been comparisons made between the Enuma Elish (Babylonian creation myth) and Genesis.

Consider that the great flood relates to a flood in the epic of Gilgamesh.

Do you realize that the Bible is a compilation of different myths from different origins (i.e. Babylonian myth, Orphism, etc...)?

well its not exactly correct in the first place, the oldest fossil dates back to 3 billion years ago, and the bible states that earth had been around 1000 years before man... I guess if you wanted to ignore that, you could say that the knowledge was given to them through messangers of god?

There are actually two different stories and they contradict each other. It is nothing like the order of evolution. It has plants before the Sun for petes sake.

First Account (Genesis 1:1-2:3)
Second Account (Genesis 2:4-25)

Genesis 1:25-27
(Humans were created after the other animals.)
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image.... So God created man in his own image.

Genesis 2:18-19
(Humans were created before the other animals.)
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Genesis 1:27
(The first man and woman were created simultaneously.)
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:18-22
(The man was created first, then the animals, then the woman from the man's rib.)
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them.... And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

I think man knew what to write in the bible and the order things were created because God told him. God is everywhere around you and always has a way of letting you know what needs to be said and done.

No, but I do find it yet another example of the Bible being right. But if read some of my other answers on evo in my file you will see that while I hold to creation I do not care much either way for how God chose to do it, only that he did for a reason.

Much knowledge which was possessed thousands of years ago was lost in the Dark Ages. If it hadn't been for the Arab civilisation, for example, we Europeans would never have rediscovered the Greek scientists and philosophers, which nobody knew about in medieval Europe. Thus it is conceivable that ancient knowledge underlies what you have described above.

You are forgeting about the Flood.A flood of that proportion will settle everything out in layers. There is a good video that explains the flood, what it did to the geography, and how we can prove it today with the eruption of Mt. St. Helens and other scientific proofs.

In the bible God created Adam and Eve first. In the story God talks to Adam. That might be it.
