The thing with pregnancy is it is very un-predictable! You could go into labor tomorrow or you could go a week past your due date. Given the fact that this is your first pregnancy, you will probably be pregnant another few weeks! Good Luck.

My best friend Meli had the same thing happen to her and it is her first child. She was in something the medical staff called not in labor but in labor? Yeah real medical terms lol. Well she dilated and her due date was February 25, she had a healthy baby on the 7th of this month. Her water broke and we all rushed to the hospital. She was lucky to not be in a lot of pain after the oxitocin and the epidural she only mainly complained about itching. Her water broke at 5:30 am and the baby was born at 2:17 pm. I was there 30 min after she got there at 6:45 and I left right when they told her to push.... no I wasn't afraid but no coverage at work. She did really well, which might not mean that many women don't experience a lot of pain, now she is complaining lol. She was going in and out of the hospital for about a month. thinking she was going into labor since it was a new experience. 40 weeks is what they call full term. Your baby might come before or later than the due date but the organs are developed already. take care

It doesn't matter. I stayed at 1 to 2cm dilated and 50-60 percent effaced for about 5 weeks. I was due February 22nd last year. My water broke on February 21st. After 16 hours in labor, 10 of it hard with pitocin, I was still 2cm dilated and only 80% effaced. I ended up having a c-section. I think most of the time you dilate about 4 weeks prior. They say that with a first baby most people actually go past their due date, so hang in there.

It is possible to stay like that until your due date and possibly go past your due date. I was only 1 cm dilated and I am not sure how effaced for the last few weeks of my pregnancy and my daughter just didn't want to come and I ended up being induced 8 days after my due date. Try walking and things of that nature that may help bring along labor. I hope you do not have to wait and be induced like I did. Good luck and Congrats!!!

I was 2-3 centimeters dilated at 31 weeks, my daughter ended up being born perfectly healthy at 34 weeks, but anyways... I was dilated to a 6 and then my water broke and it went back to a 2, so no, it can change no matter what anyone tells you. And no, it is not 24-48 hours to deliver if your water happens to break...just for everyones information.

Some women will dialate over the course of a month, and do it really slowly. My gf on the other hand was 3cm dialated and her midwife striped the membranes and she had the baby the next day. I wouldnt worry to much about having the baby a bit early, it is close enough now that it will be fine. My sister had her baby at 36.5 weeks, and he was fine. he got jaundice but that is common for any baby. Good Luck, and dont worry about it. the baby will come when she is ready

I don't think you will make it. But you may be able to stay like that for a week or so. I was dialated for a week and a half 2 cm also. I don't think there is anything I can say to make you feel relaxed, You are probabaly very excited. You will know when your baby is ready. Good luck! It is such a beautiful time.

It's effaced, and good luck with that. I was like that for three weeks. Good news? It's almost over!!!! You're goingt o be a mommy soon!
Take warm showers and eat ice cream. Go get a spa pedicure because I'm sure your feet are killing you! Maybe a manicure with a hand massage, too. Take all the time you can for yourself, you are about to be VERY busy for the next..... 18 years.
Good luck, momma!

First off it's ok to deliver at 37 weeks so if you do don't freak. However you probably won't last until your due date. Not if your 60%. Just prepare yourself and enjoy the end of your pregnancy.
