I think you have allowed yourself to become overwhelmed with
fear. Just remember that no one can stop you from believing your truths and sharing them even until your death for those truths

I don't hate anyone in general, or therefore have a generalized opinion of a group of people. Everyone has their own opinion, who am I to say that everyone thinks alike. Certainly no theist has the same ethics or morals as the next, so why atheists? I've been a theist almost my whole life, and I'm just as confused as an atheist trying to figure this crazy world out. I've never been one to think I know how we got here, if we evolved, if one infallible being created us or where we are headed. these are not my questions to answer, and I doubt anyone of us could answer these questions. I have no basis to judge another's character simply on what they believe, that's completely unfair to them, unless I know them personally. It's hypocritical to say that atheists are "that way" because they simply do not believe in a deity, when so many theists are the ones killing, thinking they are doing "God's work", which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I do feel however there is an overbearing need to mock other's beliefs. I'm not generalizing, I'm just saying that I have been on R&S a lot, and I've seen some pretty awful said things on both sides of the fence. I suppose the reason way it bothers me so much that atheists make fun of theists is because you have nothing to lose. People put their hearts and souls into studying the Bible, Torah, Koran and other such spiritual readings to understand God. To become closer to understanding why things are they way they are. I'm only speaking for myself here, but I'm sure others agree with me that all of us need to take a step back and realize that we can't change others. We can't go around accusing, presuming or otherwise blatantly judging others simply on one belief or lack of belief.

Sure they have rights..
But i don't think much of the Christians when they slam other religions or call me names because of my own beliefs.
To me that's just plan rude.
No matter what.. and sometimes the people the constantly bash.
Speak out and back against the Christians.
Sure.. not everyone is rude... so the same goes for not everyone is stopping people from expressing themselves.
I am a Pagan. and proud and a class myself as a law abiding citizen and a Good Person.
Just because i say pagan.. I will get thumbs down and told I'm a Satanist or im Evil - sure it hurts.. but its there ignorance that shines though not the cut and paste scriptures.
Let people be the best they can be .. Whatever they want to believe in.
Please.

I thought "religion" was meant to be about loving each other... not talking other people down for what they do. Fundamentalism or Extremism in any religion or non-religion is arrogant pride.
Pay attention to how YOU act, rather than how others do. I understand that it is difficult, but try to find one or two people to whom you can complain in private. Allow it to come out, so you don't dwell on it and let it cloud your mind.
Maybe what is happening is intended to bring you down, and is a challenge.
Sometimes I think Jesus must cry, because so few people listen to what he REALLY said. Christianity has been used for power for so long. But before that, Christians were persecuted as being "Cultists." Then, the Christians learnt by example of how to destroy "Pagan Cults." But not even Jesus' disciples understood what he was saying, a lot of the time. He challenged them to live in a way that was against their instinct and culture, and live in a more humble, loving way.
"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father, who is in the scret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."

Oh, you poor persecuted majority! Christians, at least the fundamentalists, attack everyone here. They call Buddhism a godless cult and tell the Buddhist that God ignores his prayers and that he is going to hell. They tell the Jews that they killed Jesus, that God ignores their prayers, and that they are going to suffer for all eternity in hell just for being Jewish. The fundies even tell other Christians that they aren't real Christians, that God ignores their prayers. Not all, but a lot of them say that Mormons aren't Christians, Catholics aren't Christians, Episcopalians aren't Christians(you remember those un-Christian Episcopalians, don't you? They're the ones that ordained a gay bishop). Then they say that any person, regardless of his faith, is an atheist if he believes in evolution. Yes, they call others atheist! In fact, they will call you an atheist if you don't believe in talking serpents.
And you wonder why people challenge these people?

for those critics of Christianity, get ready for this loud mouth Christian.
In the last fifty plus years, God has been kicked out of the schools, government, and now some public places over "separation of church and state." The ACLU and Michael Landlow are going after everything marked Christian and bring a total godless society, hoping Christians go underground. You know what, THAT IS WRONG! Your belief (for some, lack thereof) isn't being attacked, for maybe it holds little value.
My religious freedom is the same as everyone else's. The difference is some Christians are more vocal, including myself. If you can't handle it, the door leaving the kitchen is open.

Every belief and way of life gets blasted here, and clearly you want to bash those who don't behave the way you want them to, so why are you complaining if you get bashed in return?
I wish those who called themselves the followers of Jesus would follow His example. I don't recall Jesus "bashing" anyone but the money changers in the Temple and hypocrites. Sinners, He treated with great compassion, not condemnation.

You may "bash" whomsoever you please but be prepared for the consequences. My only objection is to the generalizations that people make like all of nothing. All Christians aren't worthy of being bashed anymore than all white people or anyone else. There are individuals that definitely deserve a good bashing. Like the heads of Haliburton, Enron, and that old white dude that almost got away with $40MM from Key Bank.

Q: "yet if I speak my mind about people who live immoral lives, it's called a hate crime"
A: Half the people out there living "immoral lives" are only doing so as per your opinion, one example being homosexuals. So of course people are going to be upset, as it's another example of you forcing your beliefs on someone and then being upset when people are mad.
Q: "we were founded on Xtian values"
A: were we? You speak as if Xtianity was the first religion to come up with morals...newsflash here: Judaism was the basis for ALL of your moral principles. Secondly: were we? Jefferson penned the words "all men are created equal" while his slave was sitting in the room. If that's a Xtian value...
Q: "The separation of church and state was meant to keep the government from establishing their own religion"
A: And yet Xtians keep pushing to shove church and state together. They want to make same sex marriages illegal. Why? It says so in the Bible. They want to make Creationism taught in schools. Why? it says so in the Bible.
That's my opinion. And please, persecuted?! Come on. When have you ever had rocks thrown at you for not believing the same as your neighbor? Stink bombs in your backyard? How about your religious symbol taken down from the window where all the Santa's and mangers are happily residing and having it taped to your doorknob so it will be known that one person is not pleased with your religion? How about having to take sick days to fulfill your religious obligations, since your job won't give you time off for them but gives everyone time off for Chrstmas and Easter? Ever had to shield your children from attacks, calls of "Chr*st killer!!!!"? Ever had to have the police set up a perimeter around your synagogue on the holiest day of the year so people fresh out of the new Passion movie won't throw glass at you? No? Didn't think so.
King_kong you know nothing about me or my beliefs, as your response to me demonstrates, so please be quiet about me, thank you good bye.
Also I don't hate Chr*stians at all. I was answering the poster's question. Learn the difference.

It doesn't matter and you shouldn't care anyway, you are a Christian and you are part of majority group. It would be like Muhammad Ali punching an old grandmother in a wheelchair. It looks bad if we do it, but not bad if they do it. Just live with it.
We have been persecuted but not as much as other religious groups. Religious freedom and freedom of speech are given but just like my Muhammad Ali metaphor, its not going to look good for you to bash them back in a viewpoint from anyone else on earth and from GOD.
It is unchristian for you to consider bashing them back (and I'm not bashing you). The country is coming to a new age of RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE. You cant force people to convert just because you like your religion. I hope you get to see different views so that everyone can just enjoy life while on earth however short.

We were told this would happen. Jesus said they hated Him before us so we know we are in the best of company. I am still so glad that I am a United States citizen and we can freely debate this subject. Christians here might get called stupid, intolerant and believers in fairy tales, but we can still be Christians. We cannot allow that to change, for any believer of any faith!
May God Bless you.
