The most difficult exam for me is the T-spine "swimmers" view....do any fellow radiographers out there have any suggestions for making the exam easier to perform?

OK this is what you do.
1. put them in a swimmer position
2. The arm that is is away from the IR, have the pt place their arm behind their back. The arm is behind them instead of down their side
3. From a perfect lateral position, roll the patient slightly towards a prone position. By very slightly I mean roll them an inch. It will appear they have not even moved, but it's OK
4. Use a larger IR size maybe 11x14. You will need this to get the entire cervical on the image. This makes it much easier to find T1and C7
5. Use a breathing technique when setting mAs and don't go over about 70 kVp other wise your film will have too much scatter. Use a lower mA station and increase your time. Have the patient breathe normally.

Let me know how it works

I graduated almost 2 years ago and I still suck at swimmers. It just looks like a jumbled mess to me. I'll be watching this question for a good answer!
