Turbotax makes estimations based upon IRS data and past results. The IRS does the same.
With a lot of do-it-yourself programs, a lot of people are doing their own taxes and submitting electronically and earlier than before, so they are a little behind. That is why is always says "Estimated date of deposit."

The IRS site told us Feb 20 for over a week, then just today they updated the site and said direct deposit on Feb 16th. That's too bad they changed yours to the 27th, hopefully they are not holding it up due to problems that they found. Just check back tomarrow to make sure~~could it be an issue with Turbotax and their date of depositing the funds?
UPDATE: I'M SORRY YOURS GOT CHANGED TO FEB 27 TOO, MOMZILLA~~~~THE IRS WEBSITE STILL HAS MY DIRECT DEPOSIT DATE OF FEB 16TH---nothing about Feb 27.

The first delay was due to the Holiday on Monday the 19th. You see state and federal employees usually get Washingtons and Lincolns Birthdays off, and that would have put you refund 1 day back on the 12. So The 16th was made 17th but its a Saturday and Monday the 19th is another Holiday so it became the 20th.
Makes you wonder how they can just change the refund date since we cant just change the date our filings are due. Sunday is an exception.
