I had a root canal in November to my front upper tooth - the pain after was much worse than the pain before the procedure. Endodontist decided he needed to REDO the root canal after two months of antibiotics.
It has now been 4 weeks since the procedure, my tooth still throbs and I can't bite into things. Regular dentist and endo are talking about surgery to "save" the tooth, but they can't tell me what's wrong with it or why it still hurts. I've never heard of such a fiasco over a tooth - have you? And everyone keeps telling me that after a root canal there should be no sensation in the tooth, so why is there pain?? I'm not a pansy about pain, but this is getting to be a joke . . .

Root canal treatment is a very delicate process. Perhaps they did not remove all the nerve tissue and so you are still experiencing pain? I think that 4 weeks is a looooonnnnnnggg time to have pain and perhaps a second opinion would not be a bad idea. Good luck!!!
