I've had my belly and hood pierced before, but I had to take them out due to ex-boyfriend. Well, since he no longer controls me (YAY!!!!) I'm getting them redone.. I miss them. However, the pain sucks. Any suggestions on what I could take so that I won't feel it too badly? I'll have my very trustworthy friends with me, so they'll be driving and watching me.

The pain is very temporary. And yes its going to hurt, but that just how piercings are.

I would love to tell you that you can numb the area, but you can't and you really shouldn't. Numbing creams and local anesthetics can soften and relax tissues which can lead to poorly done piercings. Its not advisable to do it and no reputable piercer will numb you. Plus, the best piercers around are able to use skill and experience to greatly minimize and control the amount of pain you feel.

The main thing is that usually you will have a longer healing time when you pierce though scar tissue, so its important to keep up with aftercare.

I'm sorry that you had to lose them because of your ex. Guys are dumb about stuff (I refuse to change who I am to make a man happy and I learned that the hard way) but I wish you luck in getting your piercings redone.

EMLA patches for the navel, they need to be on for 60min before. no longer tho or they'll start to wear off. it's just a topical anaethetic. xylocaine gel (2 or 4%) for the hood. you can get these from a chemist. or even bonjella for the hood, that stuff you put on babies gums when they're teething. in my experiece (piercer and pierced) reglating your breathing, not getting pierced at "that time of the month" or the few days before and taking a couple of iberprofen beforehand really help.

haha I'm right there with you about the taking out the belly button thing for a boyfriend. but i also took it out cause i felt too much like a Britney wanna be

anyway, just go and do it :) i didn't think getting it done hurt too bad, and it's only temporary :)

i mean... maybe you could take like... aspirin? since aspirin blocks your pain receptors. though... I'm thinking it'll still hurt. haha

good luck!!! :)

Well, maybe this time it won't hurt as bad...but when i got my belly button done i actually didnt even know the guy stuck the needle in until he said "DONE!" But my friend came with me and she talked to me while it was happening so I didn't even think about it. Try conversation when you get it re-done. If it worked for me, maybe it will work for u! :)

Good luck!
