I need to collect data in order to write a book relating to others personal experiences in order to substantiate that the soul lives on after death. Any stories or tales are encouraged as long as they are factual to the contributor/believer. I am also interested in scientific theories as well as faith based Biblical teachings. Thank you.

Did you know that NDEs can be induced by electrical or chemical stimulation of certain parts of the brain? Kinda makes you wonder if all these alleged near-death experiences are just chemical and electrical reactions inside the brain, brought on by trauma or illness, and have nothing to do with any supposed afterlife. Such reactions would cause hallucinations that would be effected by the person's culture; in other words, Christians see Jesus, Hindus see Vishnu, etc. Even an atheist in a Christian society would be likely to have a Christian-themed vision, simply because that is what they are familiar with.

the thing is when dealing with life after death and the soul you also deal with the existence of God. You can find the existence of life after death just by living and intereacting with people. What makes us love, what makes us choose the right decisions when we can pick the wrong ones. i strongly suggest you read Thomas Aquinas' works. the problem with science is that people get the misconception that science is used to prove that there is no supreme being..when in actual fact science is used all the time in cooperation with the church. it is people who choose to do evil with it. i can give you more info if you'd like. As far as personal experiences..i had an uncle 3 years ago who was dying and on his deathbed in the hospital he was so happy because he saw his mother. now this guy was 68 years old and said his mother was in the hospital room with him. so i strongly believe there is life after death.

If you want a great book, it's called "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper. The story is incredible. This is from the back of the book:

On the way home from a conference, Don Piper's car was crushed by a semi-truck that crossed into his lane. medical personnel said he died instantly. While his body lay lifeless inside the ruins of his car, Piper experienced the glories of heaven, awed by its beauty and music.

Ninety minutes after the wreck, while a minister prayed for him, Piper miraculously returned to life on earth with only the memory of inexpressible heavenly bliss.

--Good luck on your report.

There's a great book that reviews the scientific evidence pretty thoroughly:

"Eternal Remains" by Stephen Braude

EDIT:

Got the title wrong... "Immortal Remains"
