Get plenty of sleep, keep myself busy and FORCE myself to think positively. It is very easy to take on a victim mentality and sit in seclusion and home. But, I realize how dangerous that can be, so I make a big effort to take responsibility for my actions and my behaviors. I may not want to be happy, but I have to make myself happy. Usually, if you do this, you can slowly pull yourself out of a funk.

I take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 4-5 times a day. Makes me happy and energetic. Has 93 vitamins and minerals. I am 50, but feel 18. Very inexpensive and easy to acquire. At the local grocers. I have been depressed for over 40 years so I highly recommend it.

When I am feeling this way, I embrace myself and repeat that everything is going to be okay.

What we lack is love and acceptance. When we are depressed, we don't treat ourselves very well either. We eat food lacking nutrients and stay in a dark room, living in apathy. Taking a warm shower would warm me up, eating a warm cup of soup would keep me warm inside. I also take a mulit-vitamin and eat better to get the energy up. The key too is excercising. Whenever I get depressed, I go to the treadmill or excercise machine and start pumping away. When I sit a lot or have a sedentary lifestyle, I know my blood is not flowing through my body as much and when I don't drink enough water, my bloodstream coagulates.

You also need adequate amounts of sunshine and you need to get in touch with your spiritual side.

If you must, turn off the television, listen to upbeat music, and move more.

It helps me and I am still alive to this day.

I now have a renewed sense of being. My grandmother died two weeks ago. Now I think of how she always would hug me and tell me how strong I am. I never really believed her. In fact, the night before she died I was really depressed and thought of doing something really stupid. When I found out she had died I felt so selfish. A death in the family is really hard to deal with, but with most families it can be chance to get closer. Think of your family and friends, anyone you love. They can be your greatest asset when trying to deal with depression. Do something you love with the people you love. For me it's playing card games we've played most our lives. If you can't find the strength to feel good for yourself, try to find the strength with someone you love. People I love are the key to helping my depression, I just didn't realize it until now. I hope you can find your strength. Take care.

sometimes only the hope that tomorrow will be better. other times friends and family can be a huge help.

it also helps to take a step back every once in a while and just put things into perspective... when you do that often the problems that you're going through dont seem quite as bad...

well... hope this helped! ;)

I try to practice my coping skills. I've recently went to a DBT group and learned many good ones.

I try to always remember the positive things in my life. My daughter, my boyfriend. I have a roof over my head, and food in my stomache. I have people that love me.

I try to do things to help other people, and focus less on how bad I feel. I try to get out of bed, even when I don't want to. I remind myself that I don't have to always be sad.

Nature. I watch nature. Birds, mostly. Walk along beaches. Hike mountains. Collect moss. Sketch. Listen. Learn. Solitude is healing. And, then, I blow loud bubbles on bare bellies of three year olds. One cannot possibly feel down when one blows bubbles on bellies of shrieking gigglepusses.
