If the blood is a bright red, you probably have hemorrhoids. If it is pitch black, you probably have stomach problems, or at least small intestine problems. The lighter the bowel blood is, the closer it is to your rectum.
If you have pain in the sides of your back, you are probably experiencing IBS(Irritated Bowel Syndrome) This makes you feel like you have to have a bowel movement quite a bit of the time. The last item it could be is colitis. That is like IBS but a little worse. If you have this, your bowel movements will be long and stringy.
I have covered all the possibilities I could think of. I have had all of them, so I know a little about each of them. My main problem is colitis with hemorrhoids. Feel like a bowel movement but bleed bright red.
God Bless You :)

You do need to check with your GP!
It could be Haemorrhoid's (called "piles" which you can feel, if you want to out your finger up your anus as a little lumps, if they're big lumps they may have to be cut out ) Piles often really hurt.
Diverticulitis is a number of ruptures in you colon. The colon wall is broken. Depending on it's severity you may just have drugs or have to have a barium enema where they empty your bowel, fill it with barium, roll you around and see what your insides look like. They also may do a colonoscopy (a camera goes up your . . . don't think about it).
The main problem is that if one of those diverticulae bursts you've got peritonitis (bowel stuff going straight into you peritoneum-guts).
This can easily kill you.
On the other hand it could be nothing at all.

Had the same situation very seriously about 10 years ago and did NOT want to go to the doctor. (she wanted to send me to a proctologist, when I looked that up in the dictionary I cancelled the appointment!!)
It can be stress related, crohn's, colitis, or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).
I took a nutritional supplement and it stopped in 3 days. (takes about 3 days, or 72 hours for your body to assimilate something, but sometimes takes longer to heal than that. Your problem is a mucosal lining thing, so that is faster than say a bone related condition which could take several years to reverse).
I won't list the product here because it is brand specific.
