Depends on what type of hair you have. Thicker hair can be washed multiple times a day, but thinner hair shouldn't be washed more than once a day if that.

It is not okay to thoroughly wash your hair every day. It makes for greasy, dry/tangly hair. The shampoo & conditioner that you think is cleaning your hair will actually build up and cause dirtier, more oily hair if washed everyday. So rather than doing that, I suggest you pick one of these options.
1)Shampoo & condition every OTHER day. Take showers, just don't wash your hair at all.
2) If you have straight hair, and you like a bit of wave, then Shampoo your hair one day, Shampoo and condition the next. It can make straight hair a little more wavy b/c w/o the weight of conditioner your hair will have more volume.
3)Condition one day, shampoo+condition the next. It makes hair a little more silkier and less greasy b/c your not using both.

Washing every day will strip your hair of essential oils your hair needs to keep healthy and shiny, even though technically it is dead anyways. If it's just too grimy and greasy to skip a day or two, buy a shampoo that states it is gentle enough to use everyday. If you can handle it there are ways to fix your hair to cover a tiny oily spot, such as a strategically placed barrette or pin or bun it up.

It is ok yes, but don't use shampoo everyday. What a lot of people don't know is that shampoo isn't as good as you think. It would be better to use a CLARIFYING conditioner everyday, so it will clean your hair without taking out the important oils like shampoo does.

Of course it's okay, although the natural oils your hair produces is good for it so not washing it everyday is fine too. You want your hair to not be dried out but not too oily.

Professional hairdressers recommend you wash your hair at most every other day. Washing it more will dry it out and cause split ends and breakage.

Well, you'll find yourself with really puffy, nappy looking hair if you don't use a lot more product.
Find a good rhythm and stick with it. Every day probably isn't it. Me, I just wash it when it starts feeling oily (or as prescribed, for my current anti-fungal shampoo...damn cat!)

It really depends on your hair type. Mine tends to get oily so I wash it daily. A person of color might wash theirs once a week.
