Which Fundamentalists are you addressing????
Your description seems to be of the Judeo Hebraic Messianic Faiths' tradition! That could be either Jewish, Christian or Muslim Tradition?!?
Well, to Answer your last Question, Vedic Hinduism does not subscribe to the Heaven and Hell Theory. They believe that you are either reborn, after you die; or gain Liberation !
Buddhism, similarly, subscribes to the Moksha or Nirvana Principle where the Soul, once it get's Enlightenment, goes back to it's Original State - Godhood, loosely translated.
The Oriental Religions didn't subscribe to the Fire and Brimstone Theory of the Judeo Hebraic Messianic Traditions; but, instead held Man responsible for what he did in this life and said that his deeds or misdeeds would result in the vents faced by the forthcoming generations, hence their pre-occupation with Karma!
Karma, actually, is very scientific methodology which requires mathematical calculations that are accurate upto 16 decimal points; not the "instant coffee" variety promoted by ISKON.
Hope this helped!
All the best!
Cheers!

I can answer your second question, but not your first, since I'm not a Fundamentalist.
Wiccans don't believe in hell.
Buddhists do believe in hell, but it's just one of the realms they can be reborn in, and not someplace they will be for eternity. Some Buddhist holy people actually want to be reborn in the hell realms, to help the suffering beings there.
I'm sure there are more, but I'm familiar with these two.
Also, atheists don't believe in hell either, but atheism is not a religion. Atheists simply believe that this life is all we get. No hell, no heaven, no god.

Think of it this way.
We are all born sinners.
God is a judge. He cannot tolerate sin,and we needed someone to take the punishment for our sins. The person who took the punishment was Jesus, and He is the only way for salvation.
What kind of judge would God be if He let people off ? If He did let everyone off, would you be prepared to spend eternity in heaven with, say, the 9/11 bombers?
2 Peter 3:9:"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
Romans 5:8:"But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

cnd: God is in the saving business and does NOT have people roasting on a wiener stick, over a hot fire, forever in a place called "hell". "For God so LOVED the world, that HE gave those who do not believe in Him an eternal death sentence in a place called "Hell" ( John 77 verse 1000 - from the book of dysfunctional Christianity and bad theology ). When you read the Holy Bible, you have to read it for yourself, void of any pre-conceived ideas from others and in context. You will be amazed that "hell" is really a mistranslation of the Greek text for "hades", which means, a "hole" or a "grave" - not an eternal fire for torturing people in ! This is only ONE of the many errors in people's rendition of their understanding of the Holy Bible !

What would heaven be like if it was filled with murderers who raped any woman they could, lied, cheated, stole, were prideful, deceitful, arrogant, hated everyone, and hated God? How could that be heaven? If someone is never sorry for the sins they've committed, and they never acknowledge God's presence, then what will convict them? Would they change just because the venue changed? Instead of earth, they were now in heaven. Big deal. They don't care - they hate everyone.
That isn't heaven - that is hell.

That's a great question. Why would a "loving" god send people to be tortured? Why not rehabilitate them, send them to god prison with angel counselors instead? Isn't he doing the devil's work for him, by delivering "bad" souls to the devil, instead of trying to help them? Not too kind or loving, if you ask me.
Apparently I can be sent to eternal torture just for denying the Holy Spirit. Well, I deny the existence of the Holy Spirit. Oops! Eternal damnation for me! Sticks and stones may break my bones, but denying the Holy Spirit will condemn me to hell.
Oh well, no worries, because god is imaginary!

God does not punish people with eternal torture. That is part of the mythology which Catholicism brought with them from Greco-Roman Pantheism.
If you remember the Greek and Roman idea that heroes will get to go to the Elysian Fields to party for eternity, and the cowardly and bad people would be tortured in Hades for eternity...like the guy who would forever push a rock up hill only to have it roll down again...or the guy who would forever stand in water feeling thirsty, and every time he ducks to get the water, the water level drops...or the guy who is strapped to the side of the mountain forever having his intestines torn up by vultures while he is still living...those are not from Christianity...but they were converted into the belief system when the Romans became "Christian".
When the final day on Earth comes, and those who choose not to be saved get their wish...the world will be purged by fire, while the saved will be in heaven. The world will be destroyed with Satan, and the lost...and the new Earth will be our future home after the time we are in heaven...it's a beautiful concept. A universe free from evil and sin. Everyone will be there because they freely choose to be. No one will be forced to listen to a false Christianity anymore...no one will be forced to endure sadness and hopelessness again.

What do you expect God to do with people who hate Him and never gave one thought to Him in their whole lives except to mock Him. Do you think He should greet you with open arms? God is perfection and He will not allow any sin into Heaven. If you accept Jesus into your life then Christ has paid for all your sins and you will go to Heaven, not because of yourself but because of Jesus. God doesn't murder people, people refuse to love God. You people need to take some responsibility for your own souls and stop with blaming God because you want to live like hell and then think you deserve Heaven.

From what I can see in the Bible, it is all about your thoughts and actions.
If you make choices that are driven by your conscience, the Holy Spirit, the 'laws written on your heart', or whatever you wish to call it, you are choosing in alignment with God's will.
Choosing based on 'instant gratification', driven by greed or lust etc., or just what benefits you right now is to choose against God's will.
If you choose God, you go with God. If you choose against God, you choose to be away from God. It is just that easy, and just that fair.
Are those apart from God tortured? I don't think so- I don't think that is what the example of Hell is all about.

the hell that's in the bible is not a place it is a result.Hell when used in the bible the way that it is means death. So when you go to hell you go to a certain place and die .You are just gone. Nobody burns forever. Eternal hellfire means fire is used to make you gone forever.
