By debating in their hearts until they arrive at the truth and wisdom of God

Know how you can prove God's existence? It's real simple and I guarantee you it will cause many, many people to go instantly from non-belief to belief. Find someone with a severed limb. Pray for that person's limb to grow back right then and there. Make sure there are film crews on hand and several witnesses to verify that there is no trickery involved. If the limb suddenly begins regrowing, then I will believe in God, because our current medical technology knows of no way to make this happen. If such a miracle would occur, over and over all around the world, I can guarantee everyone would believe in God. Of course, it would still be a toss-up as to WHICH God, since there are thousands, but if you want to prove his/her/its existence, then do that. I won't hold my breath waiting.

God can't be proved or disproved, but since it is a form of magical thinking, the existence of such a thing is at best unnecessary and at worst a form of psychosis which encourages people to commit horrible acts of barbarism and stupidity.

No one can or can't. Not yet, anyway.

Nick H is only partly right - the burden of proof lies on the one making the claim *in the specific argument*. If a theist claims there is a god, the burden of proof is his. If an atheist starts an argument with the claim that there isn't one, the burden of proof is *his*. In other words, whoever makes the initial claim is the one who must prove what they are saying.

I'd also add that atheists seem to forget another critical piece of logical debate - the fact that absence of proof for something does not disprove it. There is zero measurable proof that I farted in my driveway yesterday, but I assure you, I did. Unfortunately, the only proof you'll ever get is my word.

No way to prove or disprove God. It's all in one's beliefs since God is not "visible".

I don't think you can disprove the existence of a god but if you pay attention to the reality of the world you would have to be retarded to think the Christian god is what they say he is. I mean how can this caring loving god give children their own kinds of cancer? The Old testament god maybe.

You honestly can't prove or disprove any legend or God. It's all about what you believe in.

The proof is all around you, but religions are the forces making so you want to disprove the existence of God.

Well, GOD is given contradicting traits. He is defined by human words and throughtout history to be a certain way. If he fails to pass the concept of human reason and logic then this is enough proof to deny his existance as that particular entity. That is why I say I'm atheist. IN a world withough logic or reason he could exist. However, some other supernatural being could exist because it is undefined, therefore not confined to our laws. That is why I also say I am agnostic.

You can disprove god but you can't prove god.

No one should have to disprove God, the burden of proof lies on the one making the claim (that God exists). This is most easily illustrated by the following argument: "Can you prove that invisible flying unicorns do not exist?" Naturally you can't, but just because you can't prove they do not exist, that is NOT therefore a logical reason to believe in them.
